Buying a CLS55 with no warranty

I'm looking for a sedan and have found a local 2006 CLS55. The factory warranty has just expired. The car is very clean and has 28,000 miles. The car is a one owner with all service records from our local MB dealer. Since the dealer has done all the service they will offer a aftermarket warranty, usually the vehicle needs to have the factory warranty to qualify.

Are these things a night mere without a warranty? The price is right, no tax from a private party and the car is clean with all service records.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Just for peace of mind, I'd invest in an aftermarket bumper to bumper warranty through Chrysler or Fidelity. It's only usually a small down payment (i.e. $100) and equal monthly payments either 12-18 months.

I bought my 55 from someone who only drove it 22000 miles. It was extremely clean inside and out. The previous owner made sure to get all services done with MB. 2 days after I buy it the drivers side door handle did not work with the keyless entry. Luckily the previous owner had 100,000 mile warranty on the car so MB fronted the bill. I would recommend having some type of warranty on the vehicle because these cars have lots of things that can go south on them no matter how well you take care of the car.

warranty on any car is a must. I had many electronic issues, supercharger went out. Warranty to 100k miles worth every dollar

Benz out of warranty would be silly! ESP an AMG, check the tranny cost on that... It needs to be inspected and then anything that comes up has to be fixed before they will warranty the car. That car being out of warranty to me takes a good chunk of change off the asking price!

I just bought the 7/100K warranty at my local MB dealer. Got it for 2300 extra. Seems like great insurance to me. I cant even imagine what a new supercharger would cost let alone electrical issues. Im covered until 2013!

IMO, and again this is my opinion, but if I were in that situation facing an additional 2300 for warranty, i would just either buy a cpo one from the dealer or buy a 2007 CLS63....Because think about it, that 2300 adds $0.00 value to the car when u trade it in...Add about 8k to that 2300 and u have the nest model year up with warranty that is worth 10k more than the 06 anyway

Not if you buy it at Black book. For me i had no interest in the 63. I wanted the mod-ability and performance of the 55k engine. You can buy these cars all day long for $39,000-$42,000. black book on a 2007 63 is still low $50,000's. $2300 for a warranty is a drop in the bucket.

Regards,

Regards,

Thats true....whoelsale for 63 is still low 50's, but nice 55's are low 40's...10k difference but can mod 55 easier no doubt about it and its a torque monster
