Warranty questions

I just bought a used CLS55 and it has no warranty remaining. I am soon going to go to a MB dealer and purchase extended warranty for the car, any idea how much this will cost? and Is it worth buying warranty for the car since it has fairly low milage (16500)

Also I lowered the car on lowering links, any idea if the dealers will flip out because of this?

A second Owner is not eligible for an extended MB warranty. You may wish to try Dimlier Chrysler.

Incorrect! Second owners are eligible for the MB extended coverage. I was quoted my local MB dealer on Mercedes warranty form my CLS and I'm the second owner. As far as pricing goes, this site seems to offer really good prices for our cars for Chrysler plans. www.chryslerfactoryplans.com

Unless MB changed their policy then I stand corrected. Sales jocs are notorious for quotes that they can not do.

they did change their policy. however a second owner can only extend the warranty. if the car is out of warranty, you can not get an MB warranty.

i'm brand new to mercedes and i'm trying to figure out the warranty situation. i've done some research online but can't figure out the best company who will write a warranty on an amg. tomorrow i'm buying a used 06 cls55 amg from a non-MB dealer - it currently has no factory or extended warranty. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am away from home, so I am no help today. When I return this weekend I will get you the name of the company I purchased an extended warranty from. I have had two claims thus far (in the eight months I've owned my car) and both were handled with no trouble at all. I have a small deductible ($100) per claim with a 48 month warranty. I paid approximately $3,000 for the warranty. I can tell you that so far I am happy with the company, their service, and the fact that I decided to purchase the warranty. Admittedly, I did feel that I got a little bit of a "bait and switch" as their first offer was for a 60 month 60,000 mile warranty which they changed to a 48 month 48,000 mile warranty for an increased price of about $400 dollars and an increased deductible of $50 dollars per occurence.

This guy is the best!

Call - Michael Case

Harold Zeigler Automotive Group

Office: (888) 324-3464
Direct: (630) 231-3464
Fax: (630) 566-4197

www.FordFactoryPlans.com
www.ChryslerFactoryPlans.com

I did a ton of research, just search around on this site you'll see, this guy has good deals. They let you make payments also. 3 months after i got my car my kompressor belt spun off the car. They towed, gave me a loaner, and fixed it. I had only made one payment on the warranty and it paid for itself.

scotty - thanks, i'll give him a call this week. car was delivered this past weekend - love it! my last car was a 750 and while i understand this is a completely different car, i would never get another 750. if the reliability on this car turns out to be good, i may never get any bmw again.

traumadude - were you able to find any info?

Chysler Factory plans stopped issuing warranties on Mercedes except for C and E class non-amg cars.

Check Michael Case and let us know if anything has changed, but i'm pretty sure they still aren't selling warranties on AMG cars.

The name of the company that I got my warranty through is Nation Warranty Corporation. You can contact them via a toll free number: Call 1-866-769-1773. Ask for Ken and tell him that Dan Gruppo referred you (in full disclosure I would get credit for the referral).

To date, I have made two claims on this warranty and both were handled to my satisfaction with no hassle from the warranty company or the dealership. One claim was for a faulty Parktronic sensor and the other was for a bad window regulator. I bought the "Pinnacle" coverage with a $50 deductible. The warranty is a 48 month/50,000 mile warranty. They note the surcharge for having a car with a super charger on their contract. Also, they financed my warranty with no interest payments over 12 months. All boiled down, I'm happy with what I got from them so far.

I hope this information helps anyone looking for a warranty for their AMG. And please don't forget to mention my name.

called nation, since the car i just purchased is past factor warranty, i can't get the same policy you did so he had to quote different coverage. he did confirm though the amg and supercharger components are covered.

Does anyone know the policy if you buy a used MB that is still under factory warranty but it already had 1 original owner and the place you buy it from is a used car dealership that isn't a MB dealer?

Call Nation Warranty Corp. I was in the same situation except mine was purchased from a individual.

I do....

Zurich is a good company, they are the old Universal Underwriters. The coverage is good, not perfect, but you are wasting your time if you don't get their best coverage. I would get it, and a shorter term is I had to, as well as a higher deductible.
Unfortunately, you may not be able to get coverage from Zurich since you are out of factory warranty. Even when I got coverage while my car was under warranty, they still wanted to do an inspection at the MB store.
Gotta do more homework in advance next time. This is a mistake that many have made--but only once.
Good luck.

Lots of money, but it may be the best investment in the long run. Please clue us in on:

1. Amount of deductible, if any.
2. Is it a full exclusionary (covers everythings except body, rubber and wear/tear items)?
3. Provide for rental while in shop for repairs?
4. Is this a MB Factory warranty or a 3rd party?
5. Which dealer did you get it from.

I got a 7 yr 75k warranty MB ELW. very good pricing i think.

no deductible. i'm 2nd owner.
The MB ELW is now exclusionary. (i think i had seen it as being inclusionary, but no longer.)
It does not technically provide for a rental (have to check again) but any MB dealer will provide a loaner if you are getting repairs at the dealership.
Also extends roadside and towing for the extra coverage time.

This is the most important question: who is willing to warranty an AMG supercharged Mercedes once one's warranty expires? And then, what type/quality of warranty can one get?
