I have a CLS that recently got hydro-locked. I will most likely need to replace the 55k engine. Does anyone know the best place to find a good replacement with LOW MILES or perhaps a re-built 55k engine?
Can't they just rebuild your engine?

coparts auctions off salvaged vehicles..you can get one with an engine and part the rest of it out. coparts.com

yah...you crack the block or heads? otherwise, have them rebuild it stronger, and put a little more boost through it!

Usually insurance covers it. We see many hydro-locked engines due to people believing there car is a submarine. Every time insurance covers it, although alot of times with AMG's that are a few years old, they total them...but you're still covered.Originally Posted by Nebster
don't you have insurance? wont they cover it?

stronger pistons, rods,(all forged) etc..., and once you have it opened up might as well port and polish. then raise your boost with out having to worry about breaking something...Originally Posted by beauphus

Last time I checked, Lingenfelter Performance was charging around $8000 for a custom ground up forged bottom end (crank, pistons, & rods) for late model V8's. Not saying this would apply to the AMG motors, but it should give you an idea of what things may cost if you want to go bigger and better...
Respectively, installation is not included...

Call Heffner and get it twin turbo'd.....

just got a call from my service advisor. they got the car to turnover and run compression tests. 4 cyclinders are off so they are saying i must have bent some rods or somehting but wont know more until they disassemble the engine. now we are waiting for approval from the insurance company to pay for the disassembly (20 hours). keeping my fingers crossed
UPDATE
my local MB dealership told the State Farm it would cost approx $31k to get the car running again because of water in the intercooler, supercharge, and 6 out of 8 cylinders having faulty readings coming from the compression test. Insurance is declaring a total loss. Basically I am screwed unless I either find a compatible engine OR try to by the totalled car from State Farm and pay for the engine out of pocket. I am on a mission to find a low mileage engine and see if I can get the insurance company to pay for it. Ill keep you posted...

They have Used Engins priced from about $5600 to $6100. Worth a shot.
