AIRMATIC question

So i was driving on the highway and had the suspension on the highest setting which means the light is on. So as i kept driving at highway speeds, i noticed the light turned off. So i got out at the next exit to see if it lowered itself but it was still in its raised setting. I am so confused on why this happened. Any thoughts?

I read in the manual that the raised setting defaults at 15min, then turns it self off. But I have a 55, not sure if its different.

Interesting.

So you say you got out, the light for the "raise feature" was off, but that the car was still up in the air?

Did you try cycling it again by pushing the button on or off again? Is it still in the air or did it come back down?

Things like this are why as much as I love my CLS, I wouldn't own it if it was not under 100% warranty.

For what it's worth, I have driven my CLS for extended periods of time, on the highway with the raise feature engaged and it has stayed up in the raised position with the light on. I only remembered because the freeways flood here in Los Angeles when it rains and it has been pretty wet lately.

Oh yea.

All I drive is a lousy 06 CLS 500 so don't know if there is any difference in the way the airmatic works between the two.

I don't know what happened, but what I remember reading in the manual, the car lowers itself at highway speeds. Actually, I think it lowers at fairly low speeds, but I would have to look up what that speed is. If you slow down, it raises again.

Why would you want to drive in the raised position?

If you read the manual ...

It states

At a speed of approximately above 75mph(120km/h) or if the speed amounts to between 50 mph (80km/h)and 75 mph (120km/h) for approximately five minutes, the setting raised is cancelled. The indicator lamp (2) goes out.

If you do not drive in this speed range, the raised level remains stored even if the SmartKey is removed from the starter switch.
PAGE 241 ...

It's highlighted in the side bar so you will take special interest in it and not worry your car is broke.

ADD ... it's doubtful it was still raised but was most likely in the standard comfort position.

+1. My car is lowered. But when I raised it up due the heavy rain we had in LA the car will lowered itself when I hit 80 mph and light goes off.

Haha oh yeah. I need to start looking at that and catch up on my reading. I like this emoticon because there has been a lot of drama going on lately here and its fun just to read through all the argument.
