warranty or no warranty
it looks like a good 3yr third party warranty is going to run about 4.5-5k (i found cheaper policies but they exclude items like dynamic seats and air suspension). i plan on keeping this car for three years. i like to get on the gas from time to time, but won't be driving it hard very much. also, not a daily driver, i'll probably drive it 3-4 times a week and less in the winter.
question is: given how expensive the warranty is, would you suggest skipping it and taking your chances or get the warranty for peace of mind. i'll probably trade in this car on a new amg when the time comes.
thanks for any feedback.

Doesn't matter how easy you are on the car, almost everything is expensive to repair. Not to scare you off.... it's a exceptional car. What the guys are saying is it WILL give you peace of mind while driving it. You could easliy exceed $4k in repairs in a few trips to the dealer. Luck or no luck. It's just a bit more expensive to keep a car like this on the road. I think the CLS 63 made the top ten again this year for one of the most expensive cars to maintain (cost of ownership).

I have the factory warranty for another 5 months, plus I'm CPO'd for an additional year. I may very well be singing a different tune come 17 months from now

As May 2010 Chrysler is no longer offering warranty coverage for Mercedes vehicles. Feel free to search the w211 AMG subforum for more info. Before they stopped covering mercedes CSC (chrysler service contract) was one of he best thing going. They provided full coverage at with $0-200 deductibles from 3400-4100 on their 5yr/70k miles or 4-5yr/unlimited mile plans.
