The 1st image, that looks just like the all popular battery tender, for use in all 12v and 6v, looks like they branded it with BMW. I have one and use it on my motorcycle and cars for trickle charging and maintaining.

thanks for the answers. ... I ASK because:

i wanted to buy a el-cheapo charger, because my bimmers have the terminals in the engine bay and i can connect them straight-away. The Mercedes doesnt, and the manual specifically states that under NO circumstance should you connect a battery charger to the clams of the battery in the boot. You can charge the battery but you have to DISCONNECT it from the car, and resetting all the other systems just would be too much of a pain...

Oh and besides the CLS55 has two batteries, right? one in the boot (big one) and a small one in the engine compartment. Any problems with trickle charging when the car has two batts?

So all in all i should be OK??

I hate to sound negative, but it sounds like you need a new battery, not a charger.
