Just wanted to congratulate Rick (rarfinancial) for breaking the CLS63 record last Friday. His pass at Fontana on April 22nd, 2011 has yielded the Quickest/Fastest CLS63 1/4 mile record

hey rick... great time and mph! what mod's do you have? with a 1.9x short time, was the run on street tires? not many cls 63 hot rods and it's nice to see one that actually hauls azz!!! as you can see, you're a full second quicker and 10 mph faster than me!! what mod's have given you the best bang for the buck? congrats, john

Mods as far as I remember them are:

- MBH Long-Tube Headers + Mid Section
- RENNtech Sport Mufflers
- RENNtech Air Box
- Kleemann 80 mm twin Throttle Bodies
- Evosport Power Pulley
- Dry Shot NOS Setup 100 to 120 shot (not sure about exact shot amount)
- Secret ECU Tune
- Quaife LSD
- Light-weight wheels + Drag Radials

I wouldn't say a 1.9 60' is that quick of a launch. The 125 trap on the other hand is hauling ***!

Also note that DA was close to +2500 ft on the day of the run. So even with this terrible 60' time, I would expect his car to drop 0.2 seconds off the ET and gain 2 mph in trap speed

I personally think it'd be awesome (and maybe a little freaky) to see a CLS63 running 11.3 @ 127 mph in the 1/4 mile

If he can some how drop his 1.9 to a 1.7 (like Juicee63 did), I'm sure Rick's car will hit low 11s

What is even more amazing it that Fontana is a SLOW track. It looks like it is going up hill. I took my Vbox there yesterday and confirmed that over the qtr mile, the track rises 12.5 ft! Guarantee on a level track and better DA you will pick up at least 3mph! On my first pass yesterday of 11.55 they track worker at the booth said, "are you the one that ran 11.5? " She then said I can't run quicker than 11.5 without a harness and roll cage, etc. She said my car is too quick to run anymore. She then took away more wrist band, so I couldn't run any more. FYI: New Z06 Corvettes ran 12's at 117mph. New 5.0 Mustang ran high 13s at 105mph....so your traps are above some veryfast company. I would assume you are running more than a 100 shot to reach those speeds at that track.

Drop some weight and use slicks and your dropping 1/2 second.


Weight is your main prob in the CLS , it can hammer out some excellent short times. I believe my 1.47 is still the all time best in a production Mercedes Benz.

Rick will definately get down into the low 11s @128 ish

That's awesome Rick! I remember the good old days with Juicee's Ice truck and the 13s runs with an occasional 12.something thrown in for a celebration.
