looking for good repair shops in so cal
Most of the technicians all came from MB Beverly Hills. One of the owners was a service writer at BH Benz also. The techs there know their stuff, and it's pretty much like going to a dealer without the frills and stealership pricing. Ask for John Abdo.
Just had my front brake pads done at Simonson (Santa Monica) yesterday, so I called Complete today to ask about pricing. They charge retail for parts. I asked whether I could bring my own mercedes original parts to which John replied 'no'. (MB Annapolis has the pads at $216 and the sensor at $16)
WI Simonson:
Front Brake Pads - $288
Sensor - $24.50
Install - $460 (Parts + Labor)
Completeauto:
Front Brake Pads - $288
Sensor - $24.50
Install - $422.50 (Parts + Labor)
Labor sounds cheaper.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Currently bringing it to MB of BH for about 3 years. They are one of seven Mercedes Benz dealers in the US authroized to operate an AMG Performance Center. They do sell a large volumn of AMGs. BUT--you still need to checkevery thing they touch. One time they substituted Mobil 1 for Castol Oil and had a run in the the SM. They change it back.
MB of Calabsas--Not so good. Had the differential oil changed and made the SA aware of the LSD oil type before hand. The tech blew it and replaced it with non LSD oil. Made them change it and got an appologies from all the techs in the garage begging for forgiveness since I returned the survey indicating their ignorance. Not to familar with AMGs.
I'm not that concerned in paying more for repairs versus looking for an independent garage. I think that dealerships have an edge on training and oversight by the regional managers versus none from independent shops and pray that it shows in the quality of their work.
PS..Have extended warranty until 2015 so why not the dealerships? (except for brakes since I want low dust pads which the dealers will not touch)
