Max speaker depth?
left door is the same as passngr's

yes, obviously I had to relocate the mirror's controller
it was a very debated issue where to relocate it ..
if you want to know the whole story:
for example this guy put it here, above the armrest, but I did not like that

best would have been to have that controller integrated with the other buttons on the arm-rest, as other Mercedes cars have (C204 and other newer cars) ..
I looked into that possibility but the buttons of our car have a particular shape and would not have been nice..
Maybe the best feasible solution would be to replace our light switch on the dashboard and replace it with one from CLK (or something like that. .. don't remember correctly) who integrates the mirror controller into thelight switch ..
That would have required to mod somehow the dash housing to fit it into.

As I did a lot of work on my dash because my bottom side was upholstered with alcantara , we could have done that mod also ...
unfortunately the idea of using that clk switch ( or G-class and SL-class switches) came late, when the upholsteirng work was already done ..
btw, I also upholstered in Alcantara the back of front seats and the small drawers

considered also the possibility to make an openable device like the rear door ashtray ... but indeed our mirror switch is a really big thing.. and my installer was already tired,
so in the end I found, as a somehow temporary location, the solution to fit it close to the trunk switch, into the door bottom pocket.
Not extremely comfortable but, as I use it so rarely, it is still there

then, besides appearance, the real challenge is to get everything working good.
these cars are designed as a whole system and when you modify something the system does not like that ...
you have to go into understanding how eveything works.. then, to think at some "safety" measures ..
The most challenging one was not fitting my 6 amplifiers. it was the sixth of them, a Class A who is sucking 16ampheres at IDLE .. producing so much heat... even disturbing my battery control module during the hot season .
I 'm thinking in these days at the last mods to be done: a special venting system and.. to be able to start the car using just the front batttery.
btw, Guys,
you did not tell me anything about the "protection film on rear sides" that I modded a few weeks ago and is posted here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w219/5337...ear-sides.html
do you like more dark or clear ?
.. see what nice black thing next to my car that arrived while I was at my service for fitting those films and other things

, my installer says he can modify my door panel an re-use my OEM grille to cover the speaker, I SHOWED HIM PICS OF YOUR DOOR and how they looked and I told him "that's what I want!"
Dyno, what crossover points are you using for your speakers?
Are you using center speaker?
After reading your comments, I am also planning on replacing my stock tweeters, with something that can play lower frequencies (around 2khz).
.. just bumping
so, Kelvin, did you get those speakers ?

Dyno, when they installed your 4" mid ranges on your door panels, did they have to cut some metal to make the fit?
yes, they did a small cut for hosting a side of the magnet.
btw, I placed the carbon morels on front doors and .. should have put there before ..
lately I am playing with high-def audio in 24bit-96KHz sampling rate and these speakers are really great for playing strong basses.

.. waiting to see your door install

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

They are not an audio shop, they are an upholstery shop, they will do the alcanatara on my roof and pillars.

Thank you for the picture!

the Electro-chromic mirror glass for the passenger's side comes only as special option (very expensive).
it makes the same auto-dimming function as the driver's and center's: when a light hits the mirror and the intensity of that light is stronger than the lights the car is receiving from the front then, the mirror automatically dims ..
see post #33 (or #10 )
in that photo my car is receiving strong sunlight from behind, while the front of the car is still inside the dark of the garage: you can see that the glass is getting darker (just compare the boundary of the glass, where the electrochroming thing does not work, which keeps staying standard light colour ..).
I had that option in my former version of mirror housing but when I installed the 2009 mirror version they did not fit me the same optional glasses and I soon noticed that, for example when somebody from behind you is hitting lamps or just has annoying high lamps on.
with these glasses those stupids are immediately darkened out ..

Btw, if anybody's interested I still have the passenger's auto-dim glass of the former mirror housing , besides also the normal glass for the new housing style ..
Job appears good !
but next time post bigger and more pictures
.. also of the mid-low, without grille
btw, did your shop fitted it without having to remove and cover again the door panel with leather ?
bet there are a lot of work-hours counting ..

... just remember when my installer told me the counting for the major install in my car and it was more than 300hours ... beware
