What made your CLS push 500+hp?

Hey guys, getting a custom cold air intake built for my car and the guys at the shop were telling me a few things I should do to boost my power in my 55, such as the supercharger clutch delete that FTP sells, heat exchanger ect... What have some have you done to increase numbers?? What products and brands to use/not use, and for what prices?? I was thinking of doing the H/E and new IC pumps from FTP, but what have you guys done?? Please share your two cents and what not, thanks

If you have yet to get a tune I would make that my next purchase. Definitely will see increases in both torque & hp. I went with Eurocharged & have no regrets. And if u seek more power after that, you could look into pully upgrades.

Yea that's what I was thinking but they had said if you don't make any major modifications then a tune wouldn't make that much of a difference.. Does eurocharge have shops across the states or can they ship software n what not ?? Thanks though.. What kind of gains did it give you?? And for how much if you don't mind me asking, appreciate it

Satisfaction from just a tune I guess will vary from person to person. As for myself, I was more than pleased with the increase from the tune. So much that I think I need a TCU to help maintain the power.
You can get all the info from their website but they state a 43hp increase & 47tq increase I believe. I wouldn't argue that one bit.
Tune was $400. And you don't have to leave ur home if u want one; grab a laptop & connect to wifi and u're good. It comes with the cable to download the file right to your car.

I have had my CLS less than two weeks.. I did a pulley and tune from Fabtech and then the bug bit me.... The power from just a pulley and tune on these cars is awesome.. I since have added a ton of stuff to the list for the next round..

MBH Headers
82mm TB
Fuel system
Fabtech Intake

These cars really like upgrades...

If 500 HP at the wheels is your goal. It can be done with 3 mods. We use our long tube headers, 180mm pulley and a tune. Thats it. No tricky fuel system changes no real air intake changes other than some drop in filters. We repeat this on all of our 55's cars with pretty much the same results.
If you really want to get the most from your CLS55 adding a throttle body and our Monster heat exchanger are great power adders. Before we came out with our Monster heat exchanger for the CLS55 years ago, most aftermarket heat exchangers were only good for improving recovery time. Ours was actually picking up mid to upper range power because we were able to keep the charge cooler for longer. This was due to are coolant being exposed to a much bigger surface area. We do this with a stock pump too.

We have 1 Monster heat exchanger instock, but if you want a tune key CLS55 with all of this already done we have a complete CLS55 for sale It is an absolute animal that makes over 500whp and over 550 wheel torque. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-CLS-Class-CLS55-AMG-CLS55-AMG-EvoTech-Motorsports-Stage-5-Iridium-Silver-Custom-DPE-3-/181395968252?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a3c0ad0fc&item=181395968252&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

I did the smaller SC pulley with a clutch (83mm I believe is actual size). Their standard tune.

I then bought a bunch of other stuff from them for round two.

MBH headers should be ready next week so I am stoked to get to hear them!

500RWHP:
Kleemann Headers $1000 + $300-$500 for installation
180mm crank pulley and tune $1200 + $300 for install
Heat exchanger and pump $400 + plus $200-$300 install

So for about $3500 you'll be right where you wanna be.

They are the best headers out there. I told mike from mbh I had a dynojet dyno before I bought them he said without a pulley at least 40hp or my money back. I got 50hp with stock pulley and those mbh headers. part throttle rocks now and all over the place in the powerband picked up no loss of torque. My car is quiet I have rear cats and res and stock mufflers its quiet. how about 60ft pounds of torque at 3000rpms.

well i had the ecu tune by bip then we retuned it with the mbh headers and with the extra power it seemed like i had a hesitation after the shift so i got the tcu tuned and it took care of the shifts and corrected issues with having a stall convertor it will spin 3rd gear when its super cold out which is cool for a 4dr car with a stock pulley

I have an ASP 180mm pulley for you, $500 shipped to your doorstep. If you purchase the pulley, I will share with you the Holy Grail of heat exchangers for $200, NIB.

That's the rout that most of us here take.

Pulley--> Tune--> H/E--> Headers--> Tune--> TB--> Tune

Any order is ok as long as the heat exchanger is included somewhere in the chain, preferably after pulley and tune. Also, I think the reason most get a pulley and tune first is because it's the most affordable and coincidentally nets the most amount of power.
