According to the AMG website, the CLS55 comes with the same gearbox and ratios as the CL55/E55 and S55. That means a 5 speed box. Why does edmunds think it has 7?

On the plus side, its good to see AMG have speeded up the Speedshift manual mode. The previous shifting logic was rather lethargic for a manual.

I see they have the price listed as $85,000 - $90,000
This seems like what it will be. Makes sense....thats around the E55 to S500 price range.

My local dealer told me that realistically that most of the stock cars they will get (minimal options) will be around closer to mid to high 90's.

Reading hte article before commenting would clear it up for you:
"Now, the "regular" CLS that the U.S. market will get, the CLS500, will come with a 302-horsepower, 5.0-liter three-valve V8 engine and one of the new seven-speed overdrive automatic transmissions, starting in January of next year."

WHILE CSL55:
"AMG surrounds the supercharged engine with an enormous array of complementary equipment, starting with a tweaked five-speed transmission with full manual control via either the shift stick or steering wheel-mounted buttons."

I dont see anywhere EDMUNDS stating that CLS55 comes with 7 speed, only 5 my friend.

That's because the article has been edited. Probably someone told them their info was wrong...

Maybe he did

I created a similar thread on another forum with quotes from the article clearly showing the mistakes

http://forums.germancarfans.com/zerothread?id=10873

For example:

Quote: ...When you're out of the throttle, cruising on overdrive 7th gear, it's as much a *****cat as its CLS500 sibling.....

"7th gear" now reads "5th gear"
