Gear Selector Module

2005 CLS55 AMG
I'm having problems with gear selection, the fault codes are pointing to a faulty Electronic Selector Module.
Does anyone know if these are coded to the car or will a replacement be plug and play?
Thanks

Hi, its the electronic module that is part of the gear selector lever. The one that tells the ECU what gear has been selected, it's inside part no A2112674424
I believe this is the one.
I'm getting fault code P1856 and P0705.
thanks

Unfortunately I dont know for sure, but best guess is that you can swap it out no issue

Did you do any maintenance on the gearbox? Swap out a conductor plate etc?

Normally plug & play when replacing with same part # any problems you will need to delete stored fault codes. Provide VIN if you want part # confirmation. Before replacing you can inspect internal board for defects that may be repairable depending on your skill set.

This is great info, thanks very much. I'll take it out and inspect for any obvious problems on the board.
My problem only seems to occur if the gear lever is operated many times on a journey when pulling up at junctions etc.

Module repair

Can anyone refer a good module repair company that I can send the shifter for solder repairs? I'm not very good at soldering.
Thanks in advance,
James

This repair seems to have worked for me. I stripped the unit down, couldn’t really see any bad solders as they are so small.
So I gave the components a wiggle and one of the LED gateways popped up, two of the solders gave way so they must have been cracked.
I re-soldered them, put everything back together and all has been working ok since. Fingers crossed that’s it sorted.
thanks for the advice @konigstiger
