something fast
probably a few days before launch like the cls 500. I think the launch is around February 17th, so it should be a few day before. The price difference between the cls 55 and the e55 will probably be the same price delta between the cls 500 and the e 500 ($7100).

I thought about that and if that was the case, the CLS 55 AMG would be around $87,500. However, I have a feeling that the MSRP will be closer to $90,000 because the CLS 55 AMG comes standard with 19" wheels, blue tinted glass, and a power sunroof unlike the E 55 AMG.

At that price, would it make more sense to fork out the extra bucks for the S55?

I don't think it does make sense to fork out the extra bucks for the S55 because the new S class is coming out soon. But not only that, the CLS is the best choice for all those people who want something different. I mean, those who want the convenience and luxury of the S class while still enjoying the looks and lines of the CL class!

Based on the specs from MBUSA, the back seat room is comparable to an "E" class. So, is it really a redesign "E" class with seating for four instead of five?

CLS55 pricing

My dealer just called me today and gave me the price of my car. Base price is $86,600, plus all options except for Distronic brings the total to $98,280. But, you still have to add tax and lic.

I was told that Mercedes is still saying the first part of March as the delivery date, but it could be sooner.

What color did you get? What options did you get? I thought the CLS class has less optional equipment than the E class. I'm just wondering why it jumps almost $12K.

Silver. The option are the same as the E55 that I bought my wife in 04. The price difference is only $5,080. I ordered the car with all the options, except for Distronic. Destination, delivery and gas guzzler tax are included in the total price of $98,280. Sale tax and lic. is not. Sirius radio is not included in the price, because the factory will install the big black antenna on the truck. I will get the unit from my dealer and they will hide the antenna like we did on the E55. I will also have Autowerks, an aftermarket retailer here in San Diego, install a wood steering wheel, Carlsson's lowering unit and 20" forged untra light wheels, and their front lip spoiler when it becomes available. Also, Autowerks will install Renntech's compressor pulley and software.

i see your price of $97,290 includes distronic. and Ken Rogers price is $98,280 without distronic. 86,600 sounds pretty good to me anyways.

Blue tinted glass & power sunroof are both standard on the E55. Pano sunroof is optional on the E55 and unavailable on the CLS/CLS 55.

Anybody has a Netstar that could confirm what the actual MSRP is? If it really is less than $87,000, many people who are expecting to pay $90,000 for a base car will be very happy when they go to pick up their cars

what do you think a finance for 60 months, fully loaded with everything included would be? i calculated about $ 1800/month at 3.9-4.9%.

How is the back seating? I just stopped by my local MB dealer and they did not have any CLS models on their lot. Is it pretty much an "E" class but seating for just four? According to MB dealer, the delivery time is 6-8 months. Meaning, I would be getting a 06 model if I order it this week.

The CLS is a modified E-class (not CL).

The CLK is a modified C-class (not CL).

The CL is a modified S-class.

Many of Mercedes' class designations make no sense.

Your'e right but it is only Feb. 2005. So I guess an Oct. 2005 delivery would mean a 2007 model.

Actually, that information is wrong. The 2006 Mercedes CLS will be produced until August of 2006 and the year model won't change until Octoberof 2006!

So if I do decide to move forward with the CLS55, I should hold off for a November/December delivery to get the newer model.

No, it's not a new model. The only change is the year model, but the car will be exactly the same. Since it's a new model that Mercedes has introduced, the car won't change for a few years.

If you do decide to get the CLS 55 AMG, get it ASAP because in that way you can drive it all 2005 and part of 2006 and still sell it as a 206 model
