My first time.
Well, my first time to the track was disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it was a blast but frustrating at the same time.
My best:
R/T .678
60' 2.380
330 6.607
1/8 9.739
MPH 79.66
1000 12.373
1/4 14.537
MPH 103.80
The car felt strong. 70 degrees. Partly Cloudy.
Track info:
http://www.rmrracing.com/2009/drag/DragStrip.htm
Elevation
4,225' Actual 4,400' NHRA Factor
7,000' to 11,000' Corrected
I quickly found out that it's all about traction (or lack thereof). I mean, I knew that it was important, but having never been on a drag strip before I thought that even with my street tires (Eagle F1 GS-D3) I would hook up better than I did. I overheard numerous guys talking about how bad the track prep was that night. I hook up way better out on the street.
It was sooo damn frustrating to be spinning the tires for the first 600 feet of the strip! (Seriously) I know that the all important launch is the key. I had 5 runs and tried different techniques. I tried rolling into the launch but I had to go so slow off the line that my 60' on a couple runs was close to 3 sec. giving me a 16.201 @101.27 (my worst).
So now, I really want to get some drag radials. Probably some MT ET Streets. I have searched but can't come up with the correct tire/wheel combo to buy for my car. Please give suggestions. Thanks guys.

Along these same lines, does anyone have any tips for getting the most out of our cars at the strip?
For ETs, I would assume it's better the shallow stage as much as possible? If shallow staged, what RPM does everyone launch at? What light do you launch from (second light goes out or when third light comes on)?
Any tips/tricks to go along with your best times is appreciated.

OK, so you're saying 12.87 at 114 with KNs only??? Time slip please??? No disrespect , but was this on a track and officially timed event?? Downhill with tailwind?? I've never seen 114 MPH qtr on stock car???

The exact quote above was "No Mods." How does the use of KN and a Quaife qualify as no mods? I 'd love to see a time slip or I am calling
Oh and tweaking is "mods." Quaife is Mods and KNs are mods!!
#363
timeslip or not.....no stock C32 is trapping 114......no C32 with just a quaife and KNs is trapping 114. you need to be fully modded to do that.....perhaps he meant 104 as the trap speed.

Dont you need a pulley and a tune to run 12s? Stock car with only a tune, lsd, and k&ns, running a 12.87? Strange, but awesome job either way.

Show us the slip!!
** Still interesting to me how a Quaife and KN are NO Mods??? No mods (engine-wise) to me means totally stock down to the plugs and wires. ****** FYI, my run was posted by my friend C32Used on Youtube last fall 2008. You can find it there racing a Twin Turbo Vette from Michigan. I got shellacked.

+1, I had a helluva time breaking 12.8 and went 12.7 at almost 110 with a LET Tune and Code III pulley??? (and our DA's at Morrocco IN that day were not that good) and also I know first hand what Jake's car can do having driven it many times as well as Jerry's old car C32) Until I see time Slip, I am going to continue to raise the flag

newzchspy, don't let it get to ya...I have a fast C32 obviously and a true mercedes master mechanic with 40 years experience tinkering on it...I'm gettin the C3 pulley/ intake next and see what that does to my time...That's about it..I'm 50 plus years old so I don't have the excitement level like you "young bucks" to go any krazier than that..I drive a 750li, this C32 stuff is just a whim..
Time slip for the 12.8 run??? True Mercedes Master Mechanic versus a "False" one??? I am not here to argue, but when I hear a 12.8 run on a allegedly "stock" car with NO MODS (other than "tinkered tweaks" and Quaife and KNs) I have to raise and will continue to raise the flag....................Oh, and your car is NOT stock and HAS MODS!!
On drag times, there is not a single C32 that has broken in to the 12s "stock". At best, its a 13.2-13.3 car at about 103-105?? Best run for stock is 13.290 at 105?? See Page 3 of C32 about half-way down by VMC!! Time slip???? Best time for 750 Li is 13.6 at 106?? No time slip for that one either??? Inquiring minds want to know??

This was my first time with any car. Not to bad, imo, wasn't really sure what to expect. Track was Sacramento Raceway, temp around 75.
My best time
Reaction - .711, horrible, I know
60' - 2.245
330' - 5.873
1/8 - 8.855
1/8 MPH - 83.908
1000 - 11.395
E.T. - 13.517
MPH - 108.80
So if I wouldn't have had such a bad reaction time, my other runs were around .25, I would have been close to 13.00
Car
2002 C32, 100,000 miles
Mods
Code 3 Pulley
Code 3 intake
