18" AMG vs 19" TSW Bremmas
Hit some potholes over the winter and my two front rims are bent. It seems to make sense to take this opportunity to go for new rims all around. I'm trying to decide between the following:
1) 18" C55 rims (if they will fit correctly)
2) Same AMG style rims as above but in 8.5/9.5 F/R widths (if they exist)
3) 19" TSW Bremmas (concern abound bending them quickly here in NY)
#2 sounds like good middle ground for this area if there is an 18" C32/55 style rim in those widths. Would appreciate any advice.
Thanks...

#2 does not exist to my knowledge, at least not in 1 piece wheel form. Anyway, anytime you go up an inch in a cast wheel you are talking some serious weight. Maybe five pounds per wheel. Now this has been likened to anything from twenty pounds to fifty pounds of sprung weight. I don't know if you are a handler or a cruiser, but for cruising, I might go with the TSW, for handling/performance I would get the C55 rims. As far as I know the TSW are as strong as the AMG rims, but the shorter side wall will increase the impact that the rim sees which would make it more likely to dent. The paint on the TSW is supposed to be pretty close, but of a lesser quality in the OEM AMG rim. Hope this helps you figure it out.

Yes, number two doesnt exist. They have it in multi-piece version, not single piece.
I heard that NYC has very bad roads, even 18's got bent pretty easily. My suggestion is to go with the C55 wheels because: a) AMG have the highest quality of all cast wheels; b) its the real thing!

blando, hey what's up.
i just so have the tsw in 19 x8.5 along with a club linea misterio 18x9 in my garage for test fitments- courtesy of the good guys at discount tire. i have falken 451s mounted 235/35 and 255/35 respectively.
i must say i did not expect to like the tsws as much as i do. the front lines up perfectly with fender, the 33 ET is spot on. i also have concerns re bending rims but the roads are quite a bit better here in ct so maybe i'll be ok.
the falkens tires are very narrow for size. i may end up with PS2s but hate the fact you cant flip them to even out shoulder wear. $$$ too.
u're welome to come by if you want to check 'em out. actually i'm passing your way in a bit heading to LI but too late to make arrangements. pm me asap if you are interested as i'm going on vac next thursday for 5 days. we could hook up any afternoon weekdays i'm in stamford right off i95 and leave work a bit before 4:00pm to beat rush hr. this could a great opportunity to mess around with the cars. i want to drive your stage 1 c32!

Thanks for all the input.
rguy - excellent points. I do like the look (and price point) of the TSWs and I could probably deal with the pothole issue by going with a winter wheel setup. However, I'm more into performance/handling, so weight would be an issue. Next step is to see how much the C55 rims would be through a friend at MB.
awdman - thanks for the info/offer. it looks like i'll be working long hours this week, but maybe we can connect when you're back from vacation. there's a chance i'll be at a meeting in harrison near 287/95 late Wed afternoon. i'll pm you if that happens.
harris - i'm sure the multi-piece is big $$$. would love to have 18x9.5 in the back...
