For you guys that have or have had a E46 M3,can you remove the resonator?if so what is the differences?
I removed it on my C32 and i was much happier with the little bit of a growl.

its very easy to do on C32. i'd do it but the eisenmann race exhaust is already very loud
on m3, they have several sections. a short answer to your question is that the resonator can be deleted by replacing something called "section II".
section I, aka "race pipe / s-pipe" is from the headers to the section II. section II is the back part which connects section I to the end muffler. in the US m3, the cats are an integral part of the headers. whereas on the Euro M3 or ROW M3, the cats are located where section I is. many people opt out for a new Section II, aka "X-pipe". you can have this resonated or non-resonated. now if you get new headers, euro or Supersprint or other companies, the cats must be relocated by either purchasing new euro or aftermarket cats, which go around section I. or, you can bypass the cats by going a new section I. so if you have different headers, section I, and section II on an m3, there's no cats and your option to have no resonator (depending on section II). you can run section II by itself and an aftermarket muffler if you want. but you can't run the headers without either replacing the section I or getting new cats without supersprint's downpipes i believe. most of the time it's not custom, but by companies such as supersprint, eisenhaus, rd-sport, etc. cost is around $400-500. sounds expensive compared to the c32 removal of resonator which is like $50, but cause i don't see people doing custom x-pipe jobs on m3's. maybe to fabricate it would be just as much, and it's easier to go with aftermarket companies that have been tested? (some early versions of section II rattle, so maybe people don't want to do custom job?)

so is it as easy to remove the resonator for a M3 as it is on the C32?
what would be cost to remove the resonator from the M3.Kevin states there are 2 sections x type setup.
is it worth it to remove it or not really?

The E46 M3 doesnt have a resonator. For U.S spec M3's we got the cats welded onto the headers, so the cats are not visible either. There is section 1&2 and the muffler. Section 1 & 2 are basically pipes, its not removing anything. My friend has the RD X pipe, and theres no difference. Get the Eisenmann pipes section 1 & 2 made out of titanium and get a titanium exhaust.
