Just got a quote for 1500 to 1600 installed which is perfect, BUT they said if the quaife plate needs to be shimmed to fit, they may need it overnight. Can someone tell me if there was ANY fabrication involved in your install? They said IF, but I want to know for sure.

not sure what the diff blokes did, I just left it and the quaife with them overnight and when I picked it up late the next day, I gave them money and they gave me my c55 and a box with the old MB diff insert in it. After that the rear wheels spin in unison without the ecu shutting the engine down. . . all good, no downside.

A must if you plan on adding any additional power (i.e. supercharger, etc), or if you use your 55 as a daily driver in all season conditions

I purchased mine for $800 brand new from a guy on the list here and it was $400 for install; Some cars will require shims, but most do NOT!! ITS a must have if you are modded.

Why they didn't offer it as a factory option on the C55 / C32 , I 'll never know?? ESP just doesnt cut it!!

Hey guys, no go on the LSD for at least a few months. Everyone, including quaife is out of stock on them and they're redesigning them for the c55.

no idea, no idea, and no idea. i'll wait a little bit, but in the mean time, i'm getting a renntech CF airbox and a GO-PRO 1080P camera. damn and i had a deposit down and everything too!

They are available. I checked about the redesign. The U.S. wholesale distributor said there was no redesign, they were just out of stock. This happens from time to time. 10 in stock in the wholesaler warehouse.

how good would this LSD hold up? I hear the Kleeman LSD starts to wear fast and wont last long in a car thats being driven hard. __________________

The quaife has a life time warranty. There are no wear parts.

If so I wouldn't waste the money to install on of those they don't hold up well.

My dealer tried to install a Quaife in our '12 E550C, but the recommended model (for 2010, 2011 E Coupe) wouldn't fit: they found the ring gear is thicker on the 12: has a taller gear ratio because of the new power. We're trying to get dimensions to Quaife so they can see if another unit fits.
Happy to read that some of you have had good luck with the unit: that gives me initiative to keep trying.

They're nice, but too big for my taste. I'll be keeping my C55 for a while.
