blacked out tail lights for a c55?
does anyone own a black c55 with blacked out tail lights? if so, what did you use to black them out (painted or tinted or ?) I was also wondering if anyone could be so kind as to show a picture of how this looks? Thank you.

This is about the least safe thing you can do to your car. If you are going to black them out, then I would suggest upping your insurance, because if someone rear ends you and your lights are blacked out, it is going to be your fault, rather than automatically theirs. It is akin to having a broken tail light. If you are going to very slightly smoke them, you might get away with it, but it is risky on everything but the back up lights. The way people do it is they mask it off and then use a can of spray paint, they keep going until they get the coverage and opacity they are searching for in the end. They make special plastic paints that should remain translucent under light application. I would go to your local hardware store, remove your tail light assemblies, by some blue painter's tape, and an appropriate paint can, then put some newspaper on the ground and spray away. Just make sure to put light even coats on the assembly.

You might have to scuff the surface first, depending on which type of paint you get and you should at the least clean the surface in a dust free area and paint their. I would cover it then with a big clean cardboard box that has enough air in it to let the paint dry.

thanks for your replys guyz, but i was thinking about it after i saw the cl600 k-12 brabus (i really like how they blacked out the backlights, looks sick) and i was just wondering if anyone here on mbworld ever did it to a c32/55. I wanted to see how it would look on a c55 because on the k-12 it looks soo clean. Anyone with pics i would still love to see. Oh and the insurance thing was a good point, i will keep that in mind thxs.

I tried so hard to tint it as light as possible!!..
I dont like it too dark, so i prefer the white part tinted...
