Mercedes Paint?

Just a question, The rock chips on my car are terrible and getting worse by the day.
Is the Mercedes paint that thin? Every other car I have had has NEVER been this bad.
Will Mercedes even look at this as a problem?
I have only owned the car for a few months, It had a few ( rock chips ) when I purchased it but it looks like it has been hit with a sandblaster on the lower fascia. The hood looks almost as bad.

Any ideas, Or is it just my car?
Thanks

Do you wax it regularly? Having a few coats of a good wax is key.

So I'm not the only one who thinks that the paint in our C32 is too thin after all . In fact, I have a daily driven vehicle which sees daily 60 highway kilometers and have never seen on it so much chips as the weekend driven Benz. The problem is that those chips are increasing very rapidly. I want to spray the front bumper, however, I was told that the new non-OEM paint might not hold up!

My BMW was much worse -- it might have been that it was a dark color as well.

I had the hood on my Benz repainted, and the body shop's paint job has held up much much better than factory.

Agreed man, same here.. Not sure if I even want to respray it, cuz it'll look the same as before in no time!

How much would it cost to get resprayed?

I participate in a number of internet car forums. All of them contain complaints about paint chipping. The problem is that water-borne paint (now used by all manufacturers) is more brittle than prior paints used. Actually I find that the paint on my C55 is excellent in quality. It is a new paint that uses mico-mica particles that strengthen the paint and make it harder and more resistant to fine scratchs like swirl marks.

The ceramiclear is good stuff, but is still far from the old oil-based paint, which is rock hard.

I got hit by a relatively large piece of debris on 40mph highway once when I first got my car. Although it didn't make a dent, it made a huge chip on the car which required refinishing the hood...... A year later, the hood has chips all over it again.

C55's paint is very good...holding up well, the only few chips are from visible and audible debris hitting the car.

I live in Chicagoland and even though we get beated with heavy snow and salt the paint looks very good...I only noticed a little bit of rust above the location of the rear licence plate holder.

Rock Chips

I am having the same problem. I thought it was my driving too fast and following too close habits. My hood is starting to look like it was shot with a shotgun. It has been waxed many times and I see no improvement from that. I hate to paint the hood just for that. Ideas?

2002 C32 1987 190E 2.3 334K miles and going
don't laugh but try Maaco

I had my front and rear bumpers repainted not retouched. Rear because some pinhead scratched a four inch long deep gash on driver side. Front because well, you know, crappy.
I took it in one morning and came back afternoon next day. Both bumpers were off and were already prepped with primer paint. They filled in the deep scratches
and since I planned on an all black bumper (no chrome) it was easy for them to prep and paint (baked).
Picked up the car the following evening. Paint is all matched up and probably even better than the rest of the car. All for $375.00 plus 1 year free touch ups. Again, that's for both bumpers.
i've had quotes as much as $900.00.
The look: priceless

Given my driving and the roads in NY, my C55 has many significant rock chips on the hood and front spoiler. It is going in next month to be resprayed: the hood, both front fenders, front spoiler and a rear quater panel (an angry driver thew a rock at my car for beating him to the entrance ramp). I will insist that my auto body guy use the latest OE mb paint.
