It will be a very close race. If your GTO is the 400 HP version, then I think that you probably have the advantage, but not by much.

Just checked and this could be the "race of the year". Cars are just about dead even.

Dragtimes.com has the C55 consistantly at 13.2-13.4.

Another website has the 2005 GTO at 13.3.

FINALLY it's all gonna come down to better driver.

Only advantage I think we have on the Benz side is the famous ESP. We b itch about it, but if you both start smokin tires due to adrenaline...his C55 ESP is gonna reduce spin enough to give him the W. If you are a pro drag racer and his ESP goes off, you get the W.

Please please post vid either way....guys here are cool. You won't get flamed....too bad.

Good luck to both.

***MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE AT THE FINISHLINE....this is most likely gonna come down to a nose.

If we are talking about the Pontiac sedan with the 6.0 Liter engine..

The C55 will beat it even if we have the 5.5!

I raced this guy at the drag strip....he drives a pontiac...and heard hes got a 6.0 engine..i freaked out... but at the end..beat him by 0.3 secs

Hey Derrick. I remember you posting that you bought a Laser gun and were going to test out Blinder. How did your tests come out. I am looking at getting Blinder for my C55. Can you post pics of your install? Where you mounted the front and rear sensors and the LED display in the cabin. In VA laser jammers are illegal just like radar detectors. The fine is not nearly as steep as it is for radar jammers but I am most likely looking to conceal the sensors if possible.

mez456,

I highly recommend the blinder. It has saved my *** many times and it is the best unit out there. If you do purchase it, be sure to have someone install it who knows what they're doing and make sure they read through the instructions. Mounting is pivotal on these devices. I also recommend using it in conjunction with the passport X50.

BTW, don't waste your money on the rear units, they are totally unnecessary.

I never actually had time to do real tests...as I really need to!
BECAUSE...my laser device didnt get jammed at around 600 feet and I am not sure what was wrong!
I repositioned my laser transponders and will do tests if i have more time!
currently Im on vacation so I cant do the tests..but I will when I get back to Boston!

That sucks that it did not work as advertised. Thanks for the info.

The unit I am looking at, the Blinder M20 extreme comes with two units. I do not think there is a 1 unit option. Maybe I will just keep the 2nd unit as a spare.

you will need to put 2 in the front....

thats what I did..

coz they say a laser beam is 18 inches wide when it reaches your car....so you need at least 2 to cover the front of your car

From personal experience.......
I "raced" NormC32 (my old C32 vs. his new 400hp GTO). From dead start, rolling at 20 (1st gear), 40-45 (second gear) and higher....he beat me every time!!!!

Take into consideration he is an expert/advanced/experienced driver that knows how to shift and race.

Hands down the GTO has the potential of killing the C32 (with a good driver) any day.

Now C55.....there may be a slight less butt kicking but I will venture to say that it can take the C55 also.

Will ask normC32 topost more impressions on his GTO vs. C32 etc

With having the 400hp version, you might be able to take him. But, you can't beat this C55. Wanna race?

BTW - I grew up in riverside. I haven't been there for about 9 years. Is it still ghetto?

Will do. I elected to leave off the cams (reason it's only a s7 and not s8), IMO not worth the extra 5k. You only get another 15-20 hp.

Just yesterday, I was chasing two SL55 AMG which happened they were chasing each other. Believe or not, I was able to follow them through.
And, I wasn't even driving my C55 (in the repair shop now) but I was driving a 2004 Honda Accord 2.4 :p If I were with my C55 , I would have smoked these two SL55s.

( this real story is saying, we can smoke any super cars if they were not so sure about the "road conditions" e.g. traffic, radars........ :p

I know the GTO's are putting down about 350rwhp STOCK. With bolt-ons, some guys have seen as high as 390rwhp. The cars are no joke and w/out a supercharger, I'd be weary.
