I well know how brakes fade and understand that brake upgrades are not needed for the first stop. Your times around road atlanta are impressive and that 700hp motor must love the back straight.

I agree, the comment about the drag car was for comedic value.
That car pulled 165+ on the back, kinda scary going full tilt into a low second gear break zone. I would love to feel one of the R8s at 200+. Track was a lot more fun before they added the kink to keep the Porsche factory cars from needing FAA clearance.

I agree, leave the guy alone!
I have the exact same set up (RENNtech) + 100 shot NOS and since I do drive the car fast...
I did opt to get the front and rear GT Brembo kit which set me back around $5,200...
But it sure does make a difference no matter what the magazines are saying...Those Brembos are sick!

It's like buying a prostitute for a night and showing her off to your friends at dinner, but then not getting things done afterwards. Pointless.

Well heres the thing, it's so hard to know someone elses situation. Sure, I don't track my X5, but is it pointless for me to get a 15.2" Brembo (Or whoever, whatever size) brake kit? Nah, I doubt it.
I love looking great, I love knowing that whatever I'm riding on, I appreciate the looks. Not just me, but other enthusiasts as well.
But on the other side of the story, I know some guys will think I'm posers, but who cares, I did it for me. It's fun for me to do this, for me to have those big brake kits.
But really, I don't have that kit, but I sure do drive like it
BTW: Get that prostitute checked for STD's..
You guys are really arguing the 'same' side persay.
- Get the BBK, you need the stopping power
- Get the BBK, it looks fantastic
- Get the BBK, whatever.
- Don't get the BBK, you don't track the car
- Don't get the BBK, whatever.
Honestly though, it's all whatever the guy with the money chooses. We can lead a horse to water, but you can't force it to drink.
My personaly opinion? Get the BBK that is setup right.
BTW: I love reading yall guys throw it out word by word, knowledge not shared is wasted.

"So you are admitting that you don't drive fast? BLING! I drove 100+ mph (where permissible) on the way to the office this morning in my old s-class, how fast did you drive?"
I am sorry, I only manage to do 170~210km/h on a 80km speed limit highway in Hong Kong and I must hate myself being such an average driver. But frankly, I really don't give one fart to this old cow with a 300SEL and a big mouth, son. If he has got some powered cars, tell him to show us a photo.
You are just managed to add yourself to be another joker to this thread. :p

Just my 2Cents,
First off Dragon... Great job! This has been a project i have been looking at since I first got the c55 back in July LAST YEAR. Way to have the ***** to pull the trigger and do it. I hope to join you soon.
As for this whole brake debate, I think its been beaten to death, but I'll just add my real world expirience. I personally would upgrade the brakes on a C55k (as dragon said he plans too) which kit I would buy who knows.
But the Stock brakes are NOT as bad as everyone here seems to think, Having recently completed the 1 lap of America event, (involving 11 seperate tracks, and a tad over 3400 miles in 7 days) I can say the stock brakes worked very very well. the only upgrade we did was to swap on some $130 Porterfield R4S (street compound) brake pads. And actually we did that about HALFWAY into the event. Now ppl will say 'see the stocks only lasted half the event' Well my car started the event with about 30,000 Miles on the clock, and the orginal pads were still in use. Not the mention when we DID swap them we found plenty of life left in them. It was more a question of convinence as we had a garage to do the swap (a lot better than doing the swap on the side of the highway or hotel parking lot)
So to summerize: Dragon

You should come out the weekend of 9/30 (friday) that way we can hit the LVMS drag strip. The have an open Test&Tune night on 9/30 (friday). We can video a couple runs.... should be a blast!
Yeap... Props to Bennyz... he was definitely the first on this board to s/c the C55. What's so cool is that Bennyz is Renntech and I'm Kleemann!
Now... I was the first on here to go with the Kleemann setup
JamE55 --- you should definitely roll up here with Bennyz, but drive your car... I want to see it!
