E vs C comparison

Guess I shoulda posted this here first.

I took a look at the '06 E55 and could not help being impressed. Man!

One thing did stick to the back of my head; it FELT a lot bigger than my 430.

I WANT an AMG car, I just want it! So I'll go back and take a look at the C55, but I wanted to know what some of you think are the things I may regret/be glad about if I do make the change.

I don't know, but I think the two are totally different worlds when it comes down to comparison. I've never stepped into a C55 before, so I don't have an opinion, but the E sure won't be a regretful decision if you choose to go that way.

Good luck.

I own neither... but if I had to get one (and I'd like to).. I'd get the E55 for looks if anything..

The C55 is nice, but the "E55" is sooo much sweeter. If I had the cash, I
would get the E55

I like both cars. They represent two different size and performance issues. One is 60k the other is 87k.

I can afford both but I don't need a mid-size car with both my kids out of the house. I like quick and maneuverable over big and fast.

I will tell you this. The E55 is more embellished on the inside. Love the velvet roof!

The E55 feels more luxurious inside than the C55. The E-class in general feels much more substantial than the C-class. Other than the obvious size difference inside and out, the feeling when sitting in the cars is completely different.

If you want a better handling smaller car, get the C55. If you want a more roomy and comfortable ride (and much faster), get the E55.

Looks wise, I personally think the C55 looks more sporty, but I think I'm biased.

If money is not an issue, I vote for the E55. Our C55 is a great car, but it does lack in the quality end of all aspects in comparison, as has been stated above.
The C55 is more of a 4 door sports car, being rougher and louder inside.

Easy decision - E55 unless you plan on buying the buying the C55 and supercharging it.

I have had an E55, two C32s, and most recently an '05 E500 for about two months. The car I still have is a C32. Driving prowess is more important to me than size and blinding straightline accleration. The E class wallows too much for my tastes. If you are looking at the vehicles for comfort, style, and prestige over driving prowess, then the E train is the ticket.

Since you did not tell us whether you already have an offer, my simple theory - "what you like , does not mean what you should buy now".
You love to own an AMG , that's fine. Nothing will stop you to love something.
1. First dump the 430 with best resale value as seems you don't love it anymore.
2. Buy a GTI and ride it for a year just for its less cost and be able to feel what is a sports car.
3. By 2006/7, you will see a brand new C-Class (W204?) and C55 wont be that late; and you will also see the W211 E55 gets a facelift of its interior, headlamps...blah blah.....etc.
4. I hate to mention this again - You might get a 6.3L engine if you believe in some shhht rumours
5. By 2006/7, test drive a E90 M3 and compare with the W204 C55/63 or even test drive a M5 ...whatever...to make sure you are right that you still love an AMG.
6. Dump the GTI and write a big check.
7. If you don't give a damn about point 1. to point 6. above ; and instead
you want to trust people in this thread (some already planning to dump their C32/C55/E55 ); then dump the 430 and get a dumped C32/C55/E55 .
My 2 cents of humour.
:p

I couldn't agree more, I could have gotten either (drove them both) and chose the C55. The shuttle like acceleration of the E55 is awesome, but when it came to the twisties it was an easy decision to make. You really can't go wrong, just figure out if you want to humiliate pretty much everybody in a straight line or if you would like a well balanced all around sports sedan.

Absolutely. In fact, I already found it pretty hard to find someone to humiliate even I am 'only' with a C55 :p Get the E55 only when you have racing targets on a daily basis , it is no fun to race with the trees And my 'well balanced all around sports sedan' - it happens to be the E90 325i I test driven last night.

I have the same problem in my C32! Why doesn't anyone want to play?
