Integrated Phone

Integrated Phone
So I went to the stealership today (Park Place in Dallas to be specific) and inquired about the installation of the integrated phone on my new C55. I was shocked when the parts representative quoted me $1750 for the whole deal. Is this a normal price for this upgrade? I heard from friends that this particular dealer tends to charge inordinate amounts for certain things. Plus, the phone is a piece of S@#t, it's the old Motorola V600. I have a hard time paying that much money for that. Any thoughts or recommendations.

Thats damn pricey! I have the phone hook-up already installed in my C32, but I won't pay $200 (on eBay) for the phone. Just not worth switching the SIM card back in forth between my phone and the MB car phone.

The phone is less than $600 for the V710 from Motorola and less than $200 for the cradle.
Now if you asked them to wire the whole deal, then you should be paying quite a bit of money because they have to wire you into the command system or stereo, depending on what you have. Mercedes aren't like Hondas, they are a little more complex to take apart and put back together, but the difference in my experience is that they go back exactly the same way they were before.

Ok,
Any updates for this forum thread?
I am thinking of having the integrated phone system put in for my 2006 C-55. Anyone have it done recently? Are you happy? Price paid? etc.
Before they were only offering the Motorola V600 or V710. But now you can get the V551 which I have been using anyway and like. But of course I've been told I would have to buy the MB cell phone for it to work.
Appreciate any thoughts you guys might have.
I don't like wearing bluetooth headsets or earpieces. Would like the hands free system.

My only comments are that an incoming call will not pause the iPod (will mute it though) like switching to the radio or CD will and the inability to get the Voice Control Module and Push To Talk in the 2005 C-Class.

Thanks for the reply. Do you remember what you paid for it? And which phone did you go with?
So you click your phone into the cradle in the armrest console each time you get in the car? If so, how often do you forget and leave it in there when you leave? Or do you just leave it in there as a built in phone only?

Docking and undocking takes a bit of a routine. But it's worth it. The phone is always charged. It processes (syncs) in about 30sec. It happens that I forget it - but I'm not tied to my cell like some folks.
The real benefit will come shortly (March?) when the system can be adapted for bluetooth (either a puck or corded handset for the cradle), then you can dock for medium and long trips and utilize the integration through bluetooth for frequent trips.
Hope this helped.
Ken.

Yes, that's helpful info., thanks.
Any suggestions on the install for Sirius? Dealer said they would be ready to do mine soon. Want to mount a mini Terk antenna under the hat shelf behind rear seats. No ext. visible antenna.
From what I hear, you can not scroll thru the Sirius channels with the steering wheel controls. bummer.

Ricc, there is a company that is coming out with a Bluetooth module to work with Mercedes Command Unit. As far as I have been told ALL 2005 and newer MB's come prewired for cell phone thru the Command Center. I was going to get this Bluetooth Module for my G55 but I was gonna sell it, then I gave it to my brother and now my wife is driving it so I might get it again. I will look for their name and website for you if you want.
