Resonator delete
I took my car to this auto shop earlier. I asked them what it would cost to remove the resonator and place straight pipe. They told me $130 but I knew that was a ripoff because forum members have said it should be about $40 because it is really simple. Anyway, does anyone have a stock vs. c32 without resonator sound clip? I'd love to hear the difference.
Thanks in advance.

the sound bite will not give you the sound at 80 mph or inside the cabin when cruising around.
you will get a better throttle response just with the mod alone. Add the green filters and you have a bit response through the whole rmp range.
its should run you no more than $50 bucks. Just tell them what you want to pay, if they refuse go to another muffler shop. Also ask them to guarantee their works for any leaks.
don't like it, put it back on for another $35 to $40 bucks.
My G35 sedan's OEM exhaust is louder than my C32 without resonator. This is a no brainer to every C32.
Keep in mind that Force Ind. cars perform better with less back pressure.

The trick is having a free flowing exhaust, with enough back pressure so that you don't lose low end oomph.
do a search, I remember someone said the power increased by a little after the resonator's gone.
For natural aspired cars: yes you will loose Torque to gain higher RPM HP.
For force induction cars: you will gain both torque and Hp. With the amount of air coming in, the car breaths better with less restriction.
I have read 1 or 2 hp to the wheels with the resonator off. Add another 1 or 2 hp with with green filters = 3 to 4 RWHP for about $150 bucks. I'm not sure about the torque figures, but should be around the same. Keep in mind, the throttle response is much better.... atleast according to my experience.
We will be offering these three items as a kit very shortly.
I just need the heat shields....
let me know when those become available... and can you post a picture how they look like?
8 hp RWHP should close to 10HP at the flywheel.
The other day i stopped to by EVOsport to buy my green filters. I can't wait until i get my EvO stage 1 done.
I was reading the post from the SLK55 forum and came across the following.

scroll down to the 204 jpeg scan.
read the 2nd paragraph to you left....
back pressure is not that good for Kompressors...

. I'm assuming much applies to the smaller 1.8L as well? Sans the heatspacers (let us know when that comes out haha).flip
On an NA, if it has equal length tube headers of the correct diameter (going too big will impede flow) and tuned length (to aid scavenging in a usable rev range), removing the resonator (which would be an inconveniently placed low pressure zone) may make the car more powerfull and louder. If the exhaust manifold is a "frugal design", I wouldn't expect any performance improvement.

A C32 is a boosted car. Most reductions in exhaust backpressure on a boosted car result in a HP increase.

The purpose of the spacers is to separate some of the radiant heat from the block from getting to the intake manifold thus allowing cooler temperatures to reside inside.
