Transmission "M" mode

My friend who had a C32 told me that he had installed a switch(from C55) to enable the transmission's "M" mode. The installation requires a TCU reflash and the new switch. Has anyone done it?

Hmmm .... I doubt that the little C / S switch has anything to do with it. That is just a toggle switch and it cycles whateve is enabled in your car.

Changing the button to C / S / M does nothing.

Reflashing the TCU would make no sense at all since the paddle shift function is buried deep inside the instrument cluster, EIS and gear selector. The software for the gear selector is not even available within the production dates for the C32.

Lenkradtippen <- steering button is one of the key menu items in the gear selector.

The rest of it has not been done by me but I know there is more to it.

Reflashing the TCU sounds really unlikely since the C55 uses an W211 transmission and the C32 does not.

So I really dont know what your friend is talking about given you also need the steering wheel buttons to control M-mode properly. If he is simply using it in tiptronic + M mode then he really doesnt have any new functions.

He sold his C32 for a 05' M5, I don't know him too well but I don't think he was lying. He said he ordered the switch from Germany and had TCU reflashed at local MB dealer. By the way, he thinks my C32 with mods is a lot faster than his ex-C32. I will ask him for more detail.

the switch and TCU allegedly came from a C55, which does not have a 6th or 7th gear.

So now the actual report is that he swapped the parts and not the software only.

Sound like we can have 7G on our C55 by just investing $10 for a switch

He never said 7G. He only said he could engage M mode by holding the button for 2 seconds... I think it is possible. He believed me when I told him about diagonstic mode and dyno mode.

I heard that if you hold the button for 4 seconds you get an extra 100HP at the rear wheels. It must be true.

Get off your high horse allready. Its 3 seconds and its only like 96rwhp and I have a PC dyno to disprove it.

Found it!! This is all I am going to say, you don't have to believe me. The price for the upgrade is 1245+VAT.
"With the M-Gearbox you can choose between 3 settings: W, S and M. In M-Mode the automatic gearbox sticks to the gear you choose (no kickdown or shifting up at the rpm-limit). The selected gear is shown in the speedometer-display."

What did you find ? Does it come with a steering wheel ?

It only costs $750 Australian dollars as a factory option. ~$500 USD and ~$400 Euro.
