ipod nano install in 2003 C32 with comand?

I've done a search, but still have questions. I think the sound quality is pretty bad with the analog aux connector in the glove-box, so I'm looking for a better solution. Does anyone know whether the ipod integration kit from mercedes works with 2003's with comand? The usability of the steering wheel controls seems cool. I guess if it doesn't work, I should use an aftermarket model, such as the Denison ice-link? Basically, I'm looking for the best way to integrate my nano? Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

I took my 2003 C32 into the dealer looking for the same upgrade. They said MB iPod kit won't work on any of their cars that are older than 2004 so we are out of luck.

The tech I spoke to did say they were working on something, but who knows how long it could take to go to market.

BS...the Ipod kits work in 2002 W211s as well...HOWEVER - they do not work with D2B comands (like in the 2003 W203s)...

I have installed a few Ipod kits in 2005 C's with Audio 20. These cars have the MOST fiber ring, however, these kits send the audio from the Ipod into the Aux input of the head unit on metal wires, so you would receive the same sound quality using the kit.

The only advantage I see to the Ipod kit is the coolness factor of using the wheel controls and the song playing in the multifunction display.

In the 2005 cars the audio settings, bass & treble are indivdually adjustable from the AM/FM, Satellite, and Compact Disc settings. You might experiment a bit with the controls on the head unit, and those on the Nano to see if you can get a more pleasing sound.

depends on what kind of parts....if you are refering to an Ipod kit, I will have to answer NO as there is NO mercedes Ipod kit that works in a CL (due to a different comand manufacturer).

mbenznl, thanks for clarifying about the ipod. i was referring to w215 exterior parts, lights, interior stuff (but not comand or electronics) as you offer for w203's. just wondering what you offer for w215 cl at all, because i do not see anything on the webiste. thanks.

Question about audio settings on the AUX input. It seems that the bass and treble always go back to zero everytime I connect/disconnect my ipod. The funny thing is, it only happens on the bass and treble. Fader and balance seem to be able to remember the previous settings. Did I miss anything here ? Or is there anything wrong with my comand ? Please help. Thanks.

The settings will revert to dead center on the US COMAND, but on a Euro they stay where you put them.

on my c32 I have the aux input installed. I had the problem where I have to crank up the volume just to be able to hear the music. well found the solution when I bought an Ipod video. I used this cigarette lighter adapter that is made by belkin, it has a built in Amp on it so you can just set it to the highest setting. and you dont have to touch the volume on your Ipod. I had this thing wired derect so I dont have a plug on my cigarette lighter connected all the time. the Ipod sits by my cup holder where I can change the songs anytime I want.

Thanks. Yeah too bad.. although i should mention that in my case the fader does not revert to dead center. I always set it to -5 and it stays that way no matter what. Only bass and treble revert to dead center.

Trekman, how is the sound quality of out that set-up? I also have the AUX set-up thru the glovebox, but its a pain in the butt and i cant get it plugged in correctly without the sound fading to one side or the other.

If you are happy with your set-up and going through the FM transmitter, I'd be willing to give it a try too.

I have the Monster Cable I Cruise one. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and runs through FM stations, there are 8 preset ones, and you just select the best one. I have had this for over 3 months with my Ipod Video and am VERY impressed of the quality, hardly any static at all. Make sure you get the new one though, the one that plugs to the bottom of the Ipod. The old one plugs into the headphone jack. You can find it on Ebay pretty reasonable for like $50-60. Good Luck!!

Cool, thanks for the info CSportAnt! I'll check out the Monster Cable I Cruise and let you know how it works. Is there anything else I need with it, or can I buy this and only?

KRob3, yea that is the one. Sorry for the confusion. That is all you need. It plugs into the cigarette lighter, and the other end to the bottom of your ipod and it charges as well. Works great!!

Great! I'll pick one up this weekend. You just tune your radio to a certain station and will hear the iPod?
