My first Mercedes Benz
Hi all,
I just wanted to say hi and that this is my 1st Mercedes-Benz. I went from a 2005 Corvette coupe w/ 6 speed to the AMG. I thought I would have buyers remorse after giving up the vette ( I have had 2 ). I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up the car and drove it home, it handled better than my vette did and now that I have some miles on it I am now starting to enjoy the power of the AMG V8. I am very impressed on how fast this car spools up. I don't have to tell you about how well the fit and finish of this car is but now I am asking myself why I waited so long. This car rocks

Well, you made a nice choice.... Now you have practicality and refined power in the same auto. I don't know how many miles you have so far, but after a few thousand on mine it got considerably faster...Enjoy the ride!

[QUOTE=rockgt302]Fred I too sold my 99 worked C5, and bought a C55. I do at times miss the vette, but not that much. I had a Z51 suspension, with Z06 sways and bilstein sports. I thought at first the C55 handled better. But now after Ive learned the car and started pushing it, it doesnt handle better than a Vette. I do love this car and wondered why I waited so long. I think the car is tighter, and due to its smaller size it feels more nimble, however when you start to push it, you will see where the Vette shines. Are you a m ember on the corvette forum?[/QUOTE
I think I might have over stated that my C55 handled better than my C6 but its not to shabby either. I have had 2 Corvettes a 2002 C5 w/ A4 and the C6 w/ base suspension w/Z51 swaybars, before the Covettes I had owned a few Mustang GT's and momdded the Crap out of them. They were cheap and fun. I still own a1989 Mustang Gt that I drag race.

Sounds like we headed down the same road. I had a 88 GT and a 89 GT vert, modded to the gills. Then a 98 TA modded, a 98 C5 A4 modded, a 99 C6 MN6 modded. Now the C55. Every one has a twin out there somewhere. My other ?? Are you a member on corvette forum I use the same screen name there as well?

I actually forgot to mention, I went from a 2002 Z06 to my C55... However, only because I moved into the Chicago loop and a corvette just wasn't practical anymore with only one parking spot in my building. I miss it my vette everyday and think about it often, but that doesn't mean I'm not happy with my decision. Two totally different animals... I love my C55 and haven't looked back yet. Just wish I had a manual!
