I want to clarify a few issues that were brought to my attention. Number 1 there was no oral agreement between Robert Chen, Linh Nguyen or myself to develop a HPS third generation 122 supercharger system. I have made this clear to all parties on numerous occassions that any future developments would be introduced and released by HPS. In addition many of Robert's comments about these issues have been misleading and taken out of content regarding myself. I hope forum members can read in between lines.
Finally, to end speculation, any engine failure to date was due to software/timing issues created by an outside source with no affiliation with HPS. The software proved to be detramentel to the engines or the individuals that elected to use their services.
Thank you,
Jim McFarland

I don't want to drag you into this but I did not come up with MP122H blower alternative out of thin air. I hope you remember what HPS's Dr. Kava and you were so excited about when I came to pick up my car after you guys did some R&D on my car with a possible pump and heat exchanger replacement to add more power. Everything is documented day by day on this thread.
I will support you in stating that you did not attempt to circumvent HPS. I asked you to help me build a one-off custom kit only. As for future commercial applications, I expressed no business interest other than stating that I would give positive testimonials if the product was successful.
As for the tuner HPS contracted with to work on HPS customer's cars, yes he is not affiliated with HPS but he was a supplier/contractor of HPS when the work was originally done so HPS does bear some responsibility for the results. None of the customers signed a waiver when the work was initially done. This tuner worked on my car initially and improved its performance because as I repeated over and over again, I was running dangerously lean and making only 10+rhwp gains before the tuning was done. You even admitted just a few days ago before I got my car back for the broken drive belt and pulley that my tuning is running fine and advised me not to replace it with your new flasher program.

I also want to clarify even farther with my position regarding to this issues. I was brought into this issues because people needed my help getting info/contact for them. What I did was no differences then what I did in the past to help out HPS with their issues with the sc kit. HPS never considered me as their partner then. So don't even considered me as partner regarding to this issues. I simply just want to help out with Robert and Mech tech to solves some of the problems.

Bimmerforums

Jim you should keep your opinion out of it. Like Adam had said you have told him " Antifreeze in the oil wont hurt an engine".
I guess leaky cores are effecient as well
MechTech SHould have never posted
BTW someone I Know is putting a whipple on his cls its nuts he finally got his cnc mill and a new lithograph and hes going nuts

Finally MT agreed to proceed with the project to build me a MechTech SC Kit that comes with the new MP122H blower, 75mm throttle body and custom reflashed ECU instead of SI's chip tuning.
They will heavily subsidize the development costs and my out-of-pocket upgrade costs will be minimal. Jim is confident it will be more powerful than the new Kleemann kits but we shall see. If this kit is successful then MT will make it commercial.
I'm glad Jim is willing to take the initiative that HPS refused. I will refraim from posting daily or weekly until the entire project is completed and the kit is fully tried and tested to work reliably and with the estimated power gain of 75-100rwhp more than the Gen II. Hopefully this kit will push me over the 485rwhp mark! The project is slated to start once the blower comes in next week.

and BTW... In Adam's email he mentioned that he told all potential customers that Jessie's tuning was the only cause of all their problems and that everything is fine now. What a crock of SH*T. Jessie's tuning is the ONLY reason the car is not in the scrap yard. I was driving around with 18/1 AFR and making only a gain of 10rwhp until a knowledgeable forum member challenged me to dyno my car and I found out the truth about the false/bogus/fraudulent dyno chart that Adam still can't explain.
I don't care if HPS sells a platinum kit that makes 1,000rwhp because I would NEVER do business with this company and Adam in particular again. He said he wasn't worried about me posting on this forum but I happen to know that when I google HPS, my posts often appear on PAGE 1 of the results. I wonder if he has tried that himself.
Everytime I post something here, Adam emails me so I know he is reading this. Here is my warning to you Adam, remove that false testimonial from your website from MYHPS.COM within 24 hours from now or you will be getting a call from my attorney shortly thereafter. You know I will do it. I already have a suit in progress so my lawyer would love the additional business.

I just checked the website for fun and I found this, your the first personal testimony:
Robert Chein aka "AMGSC" - C55 AMG Racing Track 2nd Generation Intake
Published Friday, June 23, 2006
My experiance at Willow Springs Race Track with a HPS supercharge C55 AMG Mercedes-Benz.
"My friend took me on a few laps in my own car and it handled much better than the instructors's Mustang. On the straights, it blew past almost everything on the course. There were 2 NASCAR cars, 2 Indy type cars, 2 modified Vipers, 1 Ferrari, 1 Ford GT, 1 Porshe GT3, several Porshe 997's, Boxters, 1 E55, 2 C55 (Including mine), 2 M3s, 1 C32, 1 S4 and quite a few Vettes, Zs, G35s, Lancer EVOs, WRX-STIs and Mustangs."
"It's funny but Brandon took it easy on my car on the track but I consistently did over 160mph on stretches of Interstate 5, 99, 58 and 14 while I was trying to make it from Button Willow to Willow Springs. The car lunges instantly from 60mph to over 150mph in a heartbeat and was steady as a rock even the though all the cars I passed looked like a blur."

New throttle body, header and exhaust kit search
Guys,
I am researching headers/exhaust kit now. I want a more aggressive sound from an exhaust kit but decided why not just get the headers and change the cats since my warranty was voided long ago.
I can't decide between the Kleemann ($3,600) or Renntech headers ($4,995 but selling on Ebay for $3,000 brand new). Which would you recommend? I really want equal length headers that flow from 4-2-1 instead of 4-1 and widest collector possible but neither are equal length, correct? What other brands are out there for a C55? I searched the web but could not find any MB headers that are equal length.

They are no other brands.
In order to make a tri Y-headers you will need to move primary collector down under the floor in the front seat area. There is very little room for a properly sized converter.
Basically it will be a custom job.
Is it worth doing it?
That is a question for your valet.
Will it make more power?
Yes and no. It will add a significant boost in mid-range TQ, but very little at the top end.
Will your car pass smog? No chance in hell.
Which means, that if you will want to sell the car, it will have to go back to stock................. But you already knew that.
Good Luck!

Congrats on the Cooper S. My g/f bought a Cooper S Convertible in April 2006, and she loves it. It handles real nice and has more power than expected. Plus, you can do a lot to it to make it faster!
Good to see you back on MBWorld.

Back from the Dead
The saga continues...My rig is getting a complete makeover starting with SC. Kleemann Cams, Cats, Headers, Powerchip ECU, AMS and EVOSPORT pulley kits followed next week by 80mmTB, SS Exhaust, X pipe, CM90 pump and Cobra Heat-Exchanger, Suspension links and Nitrous. Car is at GMG Racing which I know is in the goods hands of Vadim hiimself.
Question: Should I upgrade the blower on my HPS kit or just Get the Kleemann? I can't find the twin-screw version anymore. Is anybody selling theirs?

I looked closely at Kleemann's new SC Kit and the intake manifold and plenum looks no more areodynamic than my HPS kit. The Kleemann also has a flat top and sharp corners. The Renntech SC kit hardware also does not have much room for the air to flow into the engine either. The blowers on all three kits are mounted upside down where the outlet faces up and must make a 180degree U-turn back down into the engine.
The key problem with the HPS Kit (after upgrades) in my opinion is that it did not have the 2006 C55 ECU file for proper tuning/ECU mapping/calibrations. Now that Powerchip is doing it, I should be fine. Let's find out when I get my car back on Thursday. If it still does not make the power I expect then I will get the Kleemann or Renntech SC Kit and sell my kit for $1500 (only after Magnusson replaces the bearings in it under warranty).
ps. I may even go as far as boring the car out, strenghtening the tranny, etc and making this an SC'd C65 with 25psi of boost.

What's up James? It's funny how many PMs I get during a week thanking me for the negative AND positive experiences I've posted.
I am doing no more than other forum members who are doing heavy modding by sharing my experiences so that they can decide what is worthwile and what is not from a cost/benefit perspective.
I know that a heavily modded C55 still cannot compete with the E, CL, CLS, S, SL in a straight line unless I lower the Compression Ratio and Increase the Boost. But that's in the works...![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
