low supercharger oil!

my c32 has 36K miles and 4K to go before next service.

pulled supercharger oil plug / dip stick this am and no reading!

is this normal? manual did not have any info

how serious is this? should i report to dealer? should I top it up? what oil should I use? don't know if i'm being paranoid but now that i think about it the s/c whine has been louder as compared to when i got car......

maybe other c32 owners should check their cars as well..........

any feedback will be appreciated......

there's a black tube with a pull off top that's towards the back of the SC. just pull the plug out see if you have an oil reading. i plan to use a wire to carefully gauge where my level is. if it's dry i will have dealer check after i add oil.

just curious to know if anyone else is low. i had checked some time in past it was fine.

lack of oil could be a disaster for the unit.

Hmm I have never seen this. I heard that the super charger was sealed and you have to take it apart to replace the oil. I have read here that the use a special oil and you dont realy need to replace it. I will look when I get home

most SC's use the engine oil as part of the lubing system.

that is why the C32 carries 8.5 qts of oil vs whatever the C320 uses....extra oil is for the SC

Nope, SC has all of it's in the front section. There is no way to add or check it's level. The front is sealed.

The oil used is gear oil, similar to oil you would find in the differential. It's function is to keep front gears that spin the lobes lubricated and cooled.

Suuuuper blast from the past here brought back up by AWDMan dropping his C32. Reading through this post I'm a bit confused. Someone above made a smartass comment that the dipstick behind the SC was our engine oil dipstick. I was always told (and read) that we don't have an engine oil dipstick and had to use the digital readout on the dash in "dyno mode"?
What's the scoop?

correct.....you can pour engine oil through this port but need a small funnel. i use this opening to insert the tube for my skimmer when doing oil changes. c32 doesnt have a mechanical dipstick.

Drove me freaking crazy the first time I worked on one of these 02+ C classes. The C240/320 don't have a dipstick either. So odd.
