Maserati 4200 GrandSport killed!
My buddy just got a brand new Maserati 4200 GrandSport with F1 transmission. we raced last night and the result was surprising. I pull 8-10 car length from him everytime from 100kmh-230kmh. He was very depressed about it because he could have got a 996 Turbo/GT3.

I drove his Maserati, the handling was disappointing, a lot of understeer, it required heavy throttle to kick the tail out just a little. The non GrandSport model is even worst, 3200 is also famous for bad handling.

secondly, i did test drive a Maserati at Lake Forest Sports Car. i will admit the engine is intoxicating but at almost $100,000 new fully loaded, i rather get a Porsche 911 997S. are u telling me a Maserati will out-track a 997S?
finally, if i want a pure italian sports car-- it's called Ferrari

Nice kill. Why can't people accept the fact that our cars can actually outrun a more exotic far more expensive car?

You know... I find your story a little hard to grasp. 8-10 car lengths is quite optimistic even with your mods. The 360 F1 changes at 350msec compared to 160msec on the GS. Try it and you will instantly notice the difference. You really can't compare the 3200 and the GS, check out www.MaseratiForum.net There are a few videos of people tracking their GS's and they keep up with the 360s.
The thing about the GS is that a simple ECU mod will net them 435hp 415ft/lbs up from 400hp 330ft/lbs. Cutting off the cats, replacing the exhaust and putting in BCM filters gives a another 30 dyno proven hp. I believe there is a member on the Masearti Forum with these mods... I'm sure he's willing to run with you.

8-10 car lengts is crazy, i read that a regular 4200 pulls as hard as a ferrari 550 after 130mph. (that was in evo.... a very respectable source)
the 8-10 car lengths just shows that either something is wrong w/ that maserati or u r friend cant drive
