C55 next upgrade
Unbelievable, Gumpert Apollo used a RS6 V8 engine , which produces 3 variants 360hp(4.2s), 460hp(3.8s) and 650hp(3s) using NA, Kompressor and Twin Turbo respectively!
Anyone seen this car in real?

I guess it is a designed as a street car like the Lotus.
Just curious if it is really 'in the streets' now?

Maybe somewhere in Europe. Maybe he's sold and made a few. I just don't think that he's made very many or that he's even marketing it very hard -- I would have picked up on it in Dubai, Hong Kong, or Seoul.
Car sounds great on paper, seems to have done the technical and engineering right. And the build quality seems probable to be good too. And you can't fault the powerplant he's chosen.
I haven't talked with them or seen the car -- but I'm planning on making the European Car Factory Tour again in February, and I'm going to try to chase them down before then.....
I just love the fact that all of these new supercars are being made right now!

My understanding is that Roland Gumpert heads the company GMG. He was a WRC champion and ran Audi's program successfully for some period of time -- hence the Audi powerplant. GMG is located in Germany. Top-power model is like 650hp. Car only weighs like 2300 pounds. He's a component builder (like many others) who uses the best components readily available to produce the car. I am not sure the car is supercar status along with the likes of the Spyker, Ascari, Koenigsegg, Saleen, SSC Aero, Leblanc, and Ford GT -- let alone the MC12, CLK DTM, SLR, or Pagani, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. I don't think the fit and finish and roadability are there. More in the vein of a track car like the Ultima, Noble, and Lotus Exige I think. My information is that they can be had starting at about EUR 120K and running up to about EUR 200K for the top performance model fully decked-out.
I haven't confirmed it yet, but this month's Dubai auto show may have been their first and/or latest public display and promotion, and I think that that is where those photos came from.
The car is interesting though...and I'm sure that I'll go check it out....

Car definitely sound good on paper. Styling is a bit juvenile. I have yet to see any tests of it in European press. It could be good.
But - GUMPERT.
G U M P E R T
This got to be the worst name for any supercar. Or any car for that matter.
