I read through the comments on the E55 forum.... they were brutal but they have some valid points.... I wouldn't want my kid doing that **** to my car without my knowledge but then again he would probably have my consent... LOL. :p

they r very tricky to burn out in, there isnt enough power.
u need to completely disable esp (put the car in dyno mode)
all the cars in the vids r in dyno mode btw

besides toasting your tires, does performing a burnout do any damage to your car's engine?

also, what's the best way to do a burnout? i might try a burnout before i replace my tires next.

Not unless you keep hitting it off the rev limiter. It probobly isn't good for it haha. The best way to do a burnout: turn off the traction control, put on the brakes and the gas and you will figure it out from there (when it comes to how much gas/brake you should use)

A high-reving motor with little load wreaks havoc with the valve-train. The risk of engine 'float' doing what these rediculous videos show is pretty high.

My question regarding the video is... what's the point? Anyone serious about their machinery doesn't abuse it.

Because it looks cool maybe. I agree with you though. You can get in almost any modern automatic vehicle and do that. Get some videos of some exciting things like what Tiff Nedell does (ok maybe not that much, but...)

Nice way to heat up the TQ converter and say Bye Bye $5k tranny! I only recommend this at the track for launching in the 1/4 mile not for show!

This will be fun.

Are you capable of challenging what I wrote from a technical perspective? Your reply makes what point? I responded to what I quoted with a heads-up that, yes, it can cause damage. Another educated member mentioned the tranny, which is an excellent point as well.

I'm guessing from, and I quote... "u dont got", that you're probably on the younger side of life. Hopefully that is the case, I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. When I was 12, burnouts like those and responses like yours, were really cool too.

As far as not having 1% gasoline in my veins - you are correct - it's 100%. Let's see... 14years in the automotive industry working for the now largest automotive supplier in the world, countless driving schools, 2 AMG Challenges, the 'Ring (31 laps), Hockenheim (60+ laps), Monaco F1 (8 laps), Shifter Kart Racing (125mph+), and countless technical training.

No offense to ****, but I'm really not qualified to participate in their forums. I don't cook. And I don't remodel kitchens.

What I am qualified to do is respond to a question in the hopes that someone doesn't blow up their amazing AMG automobile.

all that and i'll still smoke u thru a canyon :p

no but seriously though, the cars have warranty and r leased :v
people that drag race (launch) their cars do more damage and put more stress on their cars.
10 sec. burnouts do some damage, ur right, but its not like i do them every day or even once a month.

btw, im 23

So your arguement is that your not going to be liable or take any responsibility for any damage you do, it's either MB or the leasing company?
That's really twisted.

You think it will hurt it that much if you just do it for like 2 seconds to bring the revs up and break the tires loose, then let off? I guess you are right! OOPS.

But, you don't even need to brake torque it to spin the tires from a stop anyways (at least in any SL)

So.........how old are you? That pointless, uneducated response has nothing to do with what you quoted. The person you quoted was correct.

Haha, obviously you don't know what you are doing then. Because it is effortless for my R230 to break the tires loose without powerbraking. I have done it quite a few times. And your 15 year old AOL IM lingo is giving me a headache, jesus.
