Tint

In the USA the tinting legally allowed varies by State. Do you know what the law allows in Vancouver, Canada -- is that why you're asking about 35%?
(now I'll let everyone else jump in here with their take......)

50 is what it is in MN, but that's like having nothing. 30-35 seems to be the concensus around the sport-compact scene here for having a workable tint, and not being too hassled by the cops. Of course, it's just one more thing they will nail you with if you are being pulled over for other things of as a reason to pull you over if they think you're a trouble-maker.

I have 20% tint all around and no problems.. also had 20% on my last 2 cars without any problems whatsoever. Legal limit here is 35% on the front windows.. doesn't matter on the back windows.. It's pretty sad if a cop gives a ticket for window tint.. almost laughable IMO.. Not sure the laws up in Canada, but here in San Diego it's no big deal and I haven't heard of anyone getting pulled over for window tint..

I always had 15% tint in all my cars. My first car which I owned for 2 years got me a ticket of $300 which measured at 11% according to the cop. I never removed it thought and sold it with it. The second car that I owned which was a lease and the lease was not under my name got me pulled over twice. Once by undercover cops who gave me a verbal warning complaining that they couldn't see anything inside the car. The next time I get pulled over was by a state trooper 3 months later who gave me a warning citation. it was 2 weeks before the lease was over so I didn't bother removing it. I think what I figured out from this experience is that if you get pulled over for a window Tint and the car is under your name, you most likely will get a fine. if it's not under your name u'll probably get warnings.
For now I like the bluish tint on my new C32 so I will leave it that way until i get bored of it then tint it to the legal 35%. I Guess I'm tired of being hassled and feeling anxious every time I pass a cop for this window tint crap.

it is laughable, but what else does CHP do but write up tickets for things like this? I've been in 3 cars that have been pulled over for tint in So. Cal. (my dad's old E-Class, my mom's Lexus, and my friend's G35.) that's why I don't even bother tinting mine, plus I like the blue glass...
CHP is a joke, but they will ticket you.
