Advice on C55 rims & tires
Yes, you can go up to 255/35 R18 in the rears with no problems. North44 has this setup in the summer.
thats what Im planning to do next...right now I got 255 Toyos on the rears..they are great....265 would be more awesome!
The ride quality was not affected at all, there is a slight increase in harshness at the rear but the feel was positive.
The car actually can launch better with hard acceleration. I would guess the C55 just has more than enough torque for tires such as 255, 265.
And no, there has been no increase of fuel consumption that is noticable.
Go for it, you won't regret.
Now, I ask, is there any benefit to go for the 235 front instead of my 225 now?

when i put 235 f. tires on i got a much better turn in response/grip, much better grip throughout the corner and the tendency of the car to understter was greatly reduced. i would recommend 235 fr.

Terrific ! Presumably, my stock 18" rims are really better to go with 235/255

Thanks , that ease all my little worries.
BTW, since I replaced the rear from 245 to 255, (still 18" stock rims ); I noticed my trip meter showing 1.5km less than my usual home2office 25km trip , i.e. 23.5km. This puzzles me a bit, is it true that 255 tires makes the diameter of the rear bigger than 245 ?

moving to a 255 tyre on the rear will increase your rolling radius but only by a small amount...roughly 3/8 of an inch (8mm) and should make very little difference i.e when the speedo reads 60 mph you will actually be traveling at about 61 mph
must admit i've never really considered this and i am also running 255 on the rear ... but your readings seem to be a bit off
according to my calculations the stock wheel rotates 815 times per mile (509.375 per km ) and with a 255 tyre this falls to 806 ( 503.75 per km ) so after 100 kms your tyres would have turned approx 560 times less than normal or a distance of roughly 1.1 kms so after 25 kms the difference should be just over 1/4 of a km less ....i think
i am no expert on this, so if anyone has a better understanding then please enlighten us because this would seem like a cunning way of keeping the milage down

Okay, definitely a small reduction in the milege counter.
Now I need to verify whether it was because my increasing frequency of overtaking from the inner most lane on this mountain circle road - which reduces trip distance!
