Goodbye c32, hello....

well, I`ve sold my c32 today and bought a 996 C2.
I only had it 6 months but I missed having a manual and also wanted better handling. I was disappointed with the depreciation even though I had thought that buying a 3 year old car would help..still I guess theres more to life than money.

I still hold the 32 in high regard and would recommend it to anyone, but in the end the c55 didnt offer any greater rewards than the c32 bearing in mind the additional cost. The E55 was too big and a bit less precise on the road but was nice and quick.
I`ve owned quite a few jap cars including 2 skylines so the only thing left to try is the porker (Ferrari`s out of my league).

Will post some pics after I pick the car up and will still contribute to the site as it always helps pass the day at work

Ash.

You should love it -- at least for awhile ($$$$).
Changing cars throughout a lifetime is akin to changing jobs -- will happen.
Enjoy the Porsche, they really are a breed unto themselves; and I think that every enthusiast should take an opportunity to own one sometime in their life....

i'd be very curious to hear your impressions on the 996. i'm torn between the e55 and a 2002 (320hp) 911 targa - considering replacing c32 sometime this yr.

Congrats..... I moved the other way around..... owned an '02 C4S manual, sold it and replaced it w/ W211 E55 that got lemon'd 3 months later

Let us know how fast you could go w/ the C2..... I was not experienced enough to make the C4S faster than my W210 E55

Hi

I`ve had my 2002 C2 for 1.5 weeks and done 1kmiles

My Impressions are

Good

superb Steering feel and linear response
excellent engine - more characterful than c32 very tractable from low speed with plenty of torque and superb power at the top end
Superb traction and grip
Stability at high speed is very good
Manual gearbox - blipping the throttle and the involvement from changing gears!
Engine Noise- it has a burble at low revs, warble in the mid range and metallic scream above 4.5k- its music
practicality - no problem with 2 kids (5 and 9) plus wife
30+mpg even with hard driving with a best of 38mpg on a gentle run
excellent performance especially above 100mph - you get more sensation of speed and the overall performance is close to c32
nice comments from other drivers - was not expecting that!

Bad

Some interior rattles (dealer will fix them)
umm....

Overall

I respected the c32 but Im in LOVE with my 911. I have no particular hidden agenda or bias but the p car is a much better all round car than the c32 in every aspect except cruising on the highway with one finger on the wheel with the cruise on and having 4 doors.

I think AMG make the best performance-luxury cars.

I think Porsche make the best drivers car.

P.S My other car is a CLK cab - I consider myself very lucky to be able to have both.
