http://www.acurazine.com/forums/show...=110893&page=2

lately some of members (C55, C32's, E55) have upgraded to the Porsche world.

Here is yet another example why Porsche continue to win more customers.

Here is yet another example of a stupid statement being made in a post --

switching from an AMG MBZ to a Porsche, or adding a Porsche to the stables, can in no way, shape, form, or meaning be accurately or reasonably termed or referred to as "upgrading".

The reason a person owns an AMG MBZ is because it is to that person an AMG MBZ and is the epitomy of what it is. A Porsche is a completely different car - and someone who owns or has owned both certainly knows and understands that....

I'm most likely going to take a new 997 Turbo -- been waiting for it to come out.... I may even do two and have Ruf turn one into an RT12....

But I'm not getting rid of, or replacing any - or upgrading from any - of my AMG MBZ's to do so -- that's for dang sure! ( )

They're completely different cars, and serve completely different purposes and uses.
IMHO (LOL)

[ and you either know better, or you don't know better, TopGun32 ]

first of all, going from a C32 or C55 or from a E55 to a 997 Turbo is an upgrade. PERIOD!

Not only in performance, but also in power, handling breaking, top speed, superior grip due to AWD, and its an upgrade due to cost.

its a different car... YES... DUH! I think my 3 year old could of made a better argument. In no way shape or form did compared the TWO.

Why do you think several of our members have moved on to a GT2, 996TT, Vipers, Lambos.. and have sold their loved C or E class. Becuase they are looking for an upgrade.

If you someone owned a SL55 or SL65 or CL55 or CL65 or even CLS55, maybe it will not be considered an upgrade..... becuase the price point, performance and overall speed are in the same ball park. Most of these AMG owners want comfort, overall a great GT and luxury. Therefore I agree that would not be an upgrade

Remember, this post was placed in the C CLASS forum, I know my audience.

I consider moving from A c32 TO 996 c2 an upgrade...I paid nearly double for my car compared to the amg for roughly the same age/mileage.

It takes nothing away from the c32 but I have to say that the p-car does everything better except for cruising at 65mph with one hand on the wheel and not having 4 doors.

On topic - I thought I was a fan of forced induction until recently, I will take the GT3 version over Turbo anyday.

To be devil's advocate: it's hard for some to understand the concept of "upgrade" when you own at least two of every car ever made and dozens of fabulous houses -- and one "nearly" fabulous one. :p

Point Taken.

And I supose that is where I, and the other poster(s), were coming from.

To me, an AMG MBZ is a passenger car; a luxury high-performance sedan, coupe, or roadster -- it is NOT a sports car. Sports cars, by their very definition, are lighter -- and therefore usually sacrifice some luxury, comfort, and amenities to acheve that goal.

To me, they are and will always be two separate classes of cars - with two distinctly different purposes and uses.

Thank you for adding some clarification - and for prompting me to do so as well.

you would have thought that porsche could mount the radio antaennes (however you spell it) in a better location, they look terrible sticking up from the rear bumper!! other than that if I had the money and didnt need four doors I would be all over the new caymen (and then add some more ponies to it)!!

C32 to GT3 = Uprgade3000

SL55 to GT3 = Getting a real street car and not a poseur mobile.

Depends on how you look at it.

Now the 997TT looks really amazing and will be around 120K.
With a chip and other mods there will not be much Benz can do to touch it.

Its called a chip and a ODPK..C32s can do 170 plus.
But I can do 200 and get there very quick with just a chip.
190 is stock. The areo keeps your *** on the ground.
Remember the GT3 is 3K pounds and super stiff, on little bumb and you get airborn.
A wing on a 130hp Civic makes no sence on a German Race car it does.

That's because the wing on a German car is actually functional!

I guess you have to be pretty selective as to what stretch of road you open
her up on at those speeds.

I read somewhere that the C32 was capable of 170 but is electronically governed/limited? Without upgrades, I mean.

Hey! I read that article in Sport Bilden, too. Did they get permission to use your pic?
