Good price for '03 C32 in excellent condition?

Just hoping to get a feel for the C32 market after finding a car that was probably a trade in at a Porsche/Audi dealership. A black '03 with 41,000 miles with navigation and 6 CD. The car really is in excellent condition inside and out. They are asking $35K. KBB says $30.5K trade in, $33.8K private party, and $37,4K for suggested retail. I never know what to think of KBB values.

So, what would be a good price to pay for an excellent '03 with 41K miles with NAV and CD? Any help greatly appreciated.

The only hesitation for me would be the warranty.. It's most likely going to run out at 50K miles.. You will probably want to buy an aftermarket warranty which will run you about 3k.. so consider that in your offering price. That price is 8k higher than I paid for my 02 and mine is loaded with Nav/ cd changer, basically everything but parktronic.. and I had 15k miles left under the warranty..

32-33k sounds more reasonable, but if the car is in excellent condition.....

Once again, the buy-out on my Silver/charcoal '02 C32 lease was 28k. The car had Xenons, rain sensors, 6-changer in the glovebox and COMMAND. It had under 24,000 miles when I turned it in with new GSD3 rubber, and If I knew I could buy and resell it for a profit I would have. IMHO, $35,000 for a high-performance machine with a warranty about to expire is tempting fate. Perhaps 33-34k WITH an extended warranty is a better proposition.

Wrong SteveL......I'm SteveL1 and still looking. The C32 you mentioned above sounds nice but there are better deals out there. If you have to have Black, there are a few around, just look on Autotrader or Cars.com. If you want Silver, I have a list of really nice cars including MY401's in LA and Harpnic's and .... heck there are at least 4 or 5 MBWorld members that are trying to sell their C32 right now. My conclusion was that an '03 in really good shape with an extended warranty was probably worth $35-36k. The warranty will cost at least $3k for a good one so if the car you are looking at will run out soon, deduct that much right off ther bat.

My rule of thumb is that if you can buy a car at or below the KBB Private Party sale figure, you are probably getting an OK deal.

I decided to look for an '05 C230 strictly due to the fact that this will be a daily driver and 18-20k miles a year on a C32 just did not make sense. I can also find one with 10,xxx miles for well under $30k. Gas alone was gonna be a big factor. I will have a AMG some day, just not right now. Good luck with your search, and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

The "other" SteveL

Thanks for the plug....MY401 does have extended warranty 4 years and 30,000 more miles. Its just strange the type thats lookin at these cars....very young, wanting quick but cheap..... I would be afraid of any AMG with more than 50k miles and little warranty at any price....for a daily driver...

Oh yeh, I would'nt want to buy a high mileage AMG either and you can't beat Starmark with the flex service.

Matt.........Sorry I did not call you back and let you know that I was going a different direction. Good luck with the sale and post some pics of that Chevelle that you have! You don't know how close I was to booking a flight to New Orleans!

For everyones interest, I did a bunch of research on MY401's car and even talked to the tech that worked on it. Everyone gave it a very high rating and strongly suggested buying it, even the head tech at my local dealership who had not seen the car.
