What tire would be better
Im putting 19" wheels on next month. Its either Nitto 555 extreme or Toyo T1R. Which is a better tire and would less likely rub?
TIA

I actually think both tires are quite round. I have run the Nito555s and they are rounded and I currently have the Toyo T1-S (which I think are the prior version of the "R"s). Not having both to look at together...I think the Nitos are more round.

I know this is an old post on tires
but I am trying decide what to get and not spend a fortune. For the price I was thinking either the T1R's which will cost me $600 or the Nitto 555's for about $480.
I also looked at the 050 but my tire guy said you will be lucky to get 6-8 thousand miles.
I have owned many sets of the T1R's and they were great. But if I can save a couple $100 for the same kind of tire 555's then I will do that. I want grip, handling and not noisey.
I am looking at 255-40-17 and 235-45-17 going on a C32
I know this tire subject is like
just do not want to cheap out over a couple hundred and not be happy.

So they last quite a while, but they will give you a lot of noise for sure and I was sick of it. Then I decided to purchase a set of Nitto Invos for my summer, and according to the reviews I’ve read, they have excellent handling in wet and dry, very quiet and the pattern looks awesome. Still waiting to receive them.

I had the NT555s on an 01 acura 3.2cl type s...I had to change at least two wheels(thank god i paid for that warranty) every 3 months because of impact bubbles. I'll never by a nitto again. Try Michelin, Dunlop, or Bridgestone.

if you are spending $600 you can check out the Hankook K104 as well. IMO they perform better than the T1-R although a little bit noisier.

I currently have about 38,000 miles on my NT555s with 3/32” left.

Have you got the Invo's in yet? Have you tried them out if you did get them? Trying to decide on a tire now. It was the Nitto 555 till I heard the noise issues with them.
Thanks

I got the 2 front tires last Friday, and the rears should be here on Wednesday. Don't know why it took so long to deliver.
I don't think I'll be able to give you an accurate review since new tires are basically good when you first try them. The noise on NT555 didn't come out until about 12-15k miles, and it was unbearable. If you go to their website and compare the two, you'll see that the invo has better ratings on everything.

I've clocked 8k miles on Nitto Invos on stock 17" rims. They are now louder than the Michelin Pilot A/S they replaced. Went to a track day with them with barely 1000 miles on them and things were drastically different after, sigh, ah well.
Will look for different tires next change, probably Goodyear F1's next.

a quarter mile at a time
I've got NT555's on right now and although they're not terrible, I'm pretty sure I'm going to replace them with something else. The rears are worn down to the wear bars and the fronts are almost completely gone too. Maybe I wore them well but excessive noise hasn't been an issue and I don't hear them above my radio or anything. I could be wrong but the side profile of them seem a bit squared to me, not rounded.

My brother has the toyo T1R's on 19X10.5 inch work wheels and those tires are killer. they look good and track well. he has them on a G35 coupe lowered and they rub abit in the back but that's because his suspension needs to be adjusted.

.........consider General Exclaim UHP. Not pricey but performs very well. Less expensive than Toyo's and NT555's. I believe the NT555's and the T1R's are the same tires but branded differently. You can compare the EXclaim UHP to other more expensive tires at tirerack.com.

I have the Nitto 555 on the front and the side edges have worn down quite a bit and are getting nearly smooth. I've had them on for about 6k. Defiantly spirited driving, but not carving the corners like I do in the c230 loaner car!

My .02: depends on the size. 17? Might be worth it. 19" would be too expensive. I just can't justify spending $350 on one tire.
Another thing, do you need to use winter tires as well? If yes, then save your money.
