c32 or slk32???

Hi, im new to the forum, though i have been lurking here for quite some time. I have a VW R32 right now, which i will be trading in soon to buy either a used c32 or slk32. Im really torn with which car i would rather get. I would love a 2 seater... seeing that all i have is a gf most of the time to drive around, and spring is coming soon and it would be awesome for the hotter seasons. The C32 sounds a bit more practical, and ill have a lot more room for stuff that i would in the slk32. What do u guys think?

I can get both cars at a great deal... very good deal (~$25,000 for the SLK32 with 25,000 miles on it and clean history).

if you plan to keep the car... go C32...

if you plan to just use it and abuse it go for the SLK32...

the only draw backs with the SLK, is that there is a new body style out.

With the C-class you can't really tell the difference from a C55 or C350 (from a normal non-enthusiast)... in other words the body style is about the same..

of course we know the C55 has a whole new front end from a CLK, modified, suspension, brakes, engine... better interior... ect..

The SLK will be faster and with a chip and pulley you will be 12.6xx

with a C32 you will loose a bit more due the weight but you gain room and 4 doors.

c32

my vote is the c32 ... even though I drive an SLK55 ... I've always felt that the last gen was very feminine. That just my opinion and I"m sure some others might disagree.

2002 c32
If you want a more true sports car experience go with the SLK - (probably with some suspension modifications?) I definitely would've gone that route, but I have to cart around a couple kids. It fulfills my fix, but the SLK32 would be REALLY fun. That said, I wouldn't get one with the old body-style.

02 C32 Amg - Green Filters, Less Resonator, Also 2003 BMW E46 M3 19" CSL wheels some exterior mods.
slk looks like rubbish. and the C32 is not dated yet. Also the interior in the C32 is nice. I personally like my C32 interior over the newer C55 interior. but to each their own. SLK looks extremely dated. especially with the new one being vastly different. . C32 over SLK IMHO............ anyday.

performance is parralell and looks better period.

well, it was the c32 that i had been looking at for quite some time... but i got a great deal on an slk32 from a connection i have at a dealer. They are giving it to me for 23,000 dollars - taxes, its a 2002 with less than 30,000 miles on it and clear title. I really want navigation and the c32 that im looking at has it, but the price is abot the same as the slk, and i think the slk is a better deal. Especially for the spring, and next winter, i can always trade to a c32 or something, im sure the slk will still be selling for a little more than the c32 when comparable in miles and year.

regardless, both cars kick @#($! im really excited about getting an AMG, i was looking at the M3, but it just seems like everyone has one, and the AMG seems a bit more unique... and a bit faster imo. The SLK is a lot faster than the M3 thats for sure.

get the c32.
my gf used to have a slk320, that car is horrible, the chassis couldnt handle the n/a 3.2, i dunno how its supposed to handle 1 w/ a s/c

no matter how much work u do to the sus. it will never be able to handle the power, the body just isnt rigid enough, the only way would be to weld the roof on

good luck

I had an SLK320, dynamically awful (poor steering, diving under braking, sloppy body control)....and yet with the top down on warm evenings cruising and listening to the engine...great

I would go for the SLK if you like top down motoring....but you will sacrifice some dynamics over the c32.

Good luck

PS what about a Z3M Roadster?

I tried a 1997 SLK 200K , it does not feel like it can be a more sporty car to hold the AMg power, the steering feeling is soft and not quite a point and shoot design. I am not in a position to tell whether a SLK32 AMG is better than a noraml SLK or not. Good luck.

one more thing I just remembered....

if you want an SLK32... you should look into a Chrysler SRT6 with the same engine... its slightly detuned but you can get the upgrades (pulley, ecu, air intakes,) to make it powerful.

I like the SRT6 over a SLK32.

I don't personally care the car is a Chrysler. It has a good look. It may be a bit femanine, but a lot less femanine then the SLK32 body style.

just food for thought....

personally, i think the crossfire is a bit more femanine then the slk32. Sorry, but after seeing that commercial with Celine Dion, i just lost all respect for it. I have also been looking at 2001 CLK55 AMG's. what do you all think of that car.

if this is the case, get an M3 E46 + SMG ! you can't go wrong with M3's ,

better than the CLK ... it depend on what do you want? sporty driving = M3

pure torque and comfy = CLK 55

if he needs it for daily driving SMG would obviously be a better choice, but nothing beats the experience of M with manual.

back to topic:

the SLK32 is based of a really old chassi...W202. It's a nice car, but I just can't get over the fact that the chassi is jurassic old and the interior's not as well put together. The C32 of course I like it's praticality.

If you are looking for a sports roadster that new SLK350 with 6speed will blow the driving experience of the SLK32 out of the water even though it's not as quick.

and just to spice things up BMW has just announced the NEW M-Roadster that will go on sale later this year.

by now you can get a nice used 350 6sp... 1 year old.

put bigger rims and chip and pulley, intake and probably remove the resonator.. it would be a nice set up.

i would love the slk350! i love the body, reminds me of my dads sl500. anyways, if i get this car, it will be temporary car, maybe for over the summer. I may be moving to europe in the fall for school (finishing 4 years of premed and maybe going to poland for last four years before moving to greece where im from) or i may be taking over my fathers club. if the later happens, i will be contemplating on someting bigger and faster than the slk32. But for now, i think i would have something thats a good price that i can enjoy in the summer. i just wished the slk350 was cheaper, cuz i would definately take that over the slk32. Well see what i will get soon.
