my next car: C55 AMG?

OLD: 2004 C230 Sport Sedan, NEW: 2007 SLK350
my next car: C55 AMG?
My first mercedes ever: a brand new 2004 C230 Sport Sedan... only a few complaints with the sluggishness at low speeds, and the crappy cupholder...
so, recently, I start looking at the 2006 C230 Sport Sedan with V-6 engine, 201 hp, and it looks like a better deal...
... but do I really want to get the same car after waiting a couple of years?
ok, so then I start looking at the SLK350, but then again, I still want a sedan, yet something sporty...
... the the CLK catches my eye... CLK500, 2 doors, but then there's a back seat for extra passengers or bags and stuff, but a little inconvenient to get in the back...
enter the C55 AMG: 4 door sport sedan with the AMG moniker, and AMG performance to boot... and not a bad price!
I went to the Mercedes dealer today, and talked to the guy who sold me my previous purchase... after talking about many cars, he asked if I wanted to drive a fun car, and gave me the keys to an SLK55 AMG, which was really fun to drive...
... but then again, I think I still want the C55 AMG: seems like it has the same acceleration and performance as the SLK55 AMG? (ooh, gotta love the AMG sound), and it goes to 60mph faster than those puny SLK350 models... :-)
what are your thoughts?
p.s. I passed an SLR McLaren in the showroom.. now maybe I can pick up one of those in a couple of years? ;-)

I'd go with the C55 as well. My brother just got a 06 Mars Red C55 and that thing is fast, well styled and 4 dours. You really cant beat it for the money (well maybe an 03 E55) BTW, what dealership did you see the SLR, was it new or used?

thanks, that's what I thought (re: C55 AMG)
but the E55? doesn't interest me.. in fact, none of the E-class cars do (and yes, I've been in an E55 AMG too)

After you drive the C55 I don't think the C230 will feel the same ever again. No offense, but I just feel miserable in the C230k loaners they give me when I take my car in for service.
There isn't much of an upgrade as far as interior things go but the extra power and handling improvement is worth it IMO. Go for a spin in one and decide for yourself.

You are A true Benz lover. You definitely need a sport sedan.
C230 V6 -> Good buy but what is the point to buy the same car?
CLK500 -> No, you reallly should wait for the 388hp CLK500, not the current SOHC 306hp CLK500
SLK350 -> Yes if you want a roadster but it is not faster than the C55
SLK55 AMG -> Go for it if want to own the fastest hard top convertible in the world.
C55 AMG -> I have driven it for 17 mths, 26000km, No regrets, I will keep it at least for another 2 yrs.
SLR -> Get it if you can, that's beyond my wildest dream

you might want to take a look at the SL 65 if you think the SLK55 is the fastest hardtop convertible in the world

MY RESPONSE: Good point, but my 2004 C230 was totalled, and my other car is a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE. Now you see why. I can save a few bucks, and relive some good memories.

MY RESPONSE: I don't really want a coupe. My gf wants this for now, but the coupe is just not me. Sport sedan for me, and if i can afford 2 cars, then a convertible as well.

MY RESPONSE: Ooh, I loved it when I drove it. Again, if I could have 2 cars, this would be one of them. (I don't think it's the fastest though, the SL65 AMG is a V-12 pushing 604 hp, while the SLK55 AMG is a V-8 only 355 hp... "only" hehe)

MY RESPONSE: Specs look similar to SLK55 AMG (which is what I test drove), and I do need a sport sedan, so definitely at the top of my list.
