c32 lowering question..

on stock setup.. front has four and a half finger gap.. rear has 2 fingers. it looks likes doing a wheelie.

anyway, everyone was like that stock?

and lowering, will springs even it out? i ask cause h&r's supposedly have the same size drop for front and rear.

Yes, mine is like that also. Looks horrible! I have some Vogtland springs at home waiting to go on when the snow melts. If you want more of a drop in the front after you install the springs you can adjust it accordingly with a different size rubber spring pad (thinner) in the front or thicker one for the rear.

H&R will pretty much even it out, as long as you replace the rear spring pads with the thickest one (#4).

The only way to get your drop perfect is with coilovers, which I highly recommend. I got TEIN Basic (height-adjustable only) and they're awesome.

go Renntech...

no my front is slightly lower than my rear.

no ride sacrifise and better handling, not as good as coil overs but better.

I'm going to probably do the sways next, i need more body stiffness.

As far as I've seen, cars generally come with spring pad #2 from the factory. Spring pads are only used on the rear on W203's. They are simple to swap once the shop has the suspension taken apart and is going to put the new springs on. From what I've seen, the pad just sits on top of the spring.

ahh, got it. thanks.

how big of a difference in thickness is going from a #2 to a #4?

and does the pad HAVE to be replaced with new springs?

Not sure on the exact measurements off the top of my head. They've been posted on the forums before, but with as many posts as you have, I'm sure you already know how to use the search feature.

No, the pads never HAVE to be replaced. They're just rubber donut shaped things that should last longer than the life of your car.

TopGun32, you paid a total of $500 for Renntech springs installed? That sounds too good to be true! How long ago was this?

I live in the Sacramento area and at that price, it would be worth the 1.5 hour drive to Walnut Creek.

From what I remember, it was a set that the shop had sitting in inventory, so they unloaded them at a super low, one time only, price. And The Wheel Supply (TWS) is in Walnut, CA not Walnut Creek.

Walnut is here in So Cal... not Walnut Creek (Bay Area)

Installed January 2006

The Wheel Shop... and the owner is Sander.

he can sell you Brabus for the same price. He did mention that he gave me a killer deal on my set, since he had it in stock and wanted to get rid of it. But I'm pretty sure he can give you almost the same deal.

But for the Brabus springs, he quoted me $350 as well.

Therefore it would like a 6 hour drive for you, but it might be worth it.

I tried to buy H&R springs and installation by a well known So cal shop and they were chargin $1k with 6 hours of labor.

give him a call... i have refered others to his place. You should be able to find him through google or yahoo.

Six hours either means they don't know what they're doing or they're trying to rip you off.

I agree...6 hours for springs is a crock

They're supposed to charge the book rate which I'm pretty sure is 45min for each front and 30min for each rear = 2.5 hours labor.
