need to buy 4 new tires
Got about 25K of pretty much trouble free driving (some computer issues) on my C32. Don't want
to change the wheels. What is the biggest tire I can slip on without clearance issues? Also what
brands to you gents recommend? I drive in sunny California, some rain, zero snow. Thanks for
your advise.

I prefer P-Zero Rosso than Michllin Polit sport.

So maybe these opinions are more a reflection of drivers than tires.
Your driving and mine and Harris's are all different.
I suggest you look hard at the Tire survey at Tirerack.com.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/max.jsp
You should be fine with any of the mentioned tires, but the Michelins will probably last a wee bit longer and should handle comparably. On the average car with the average driver.
You have to choose what you are willing to trade for what other feature. If you want them to last 25000 mi and you are happy with the handling then why look further than the Michelins?
The tire rack survey does say that the Pirellis will last a LITTLE less, but doesn't say they actually handle better wet or dry.
So you can believe people that have put 2,000,000 miles on the above mentioned tires on OTHER cars or the few that have them on a C32 just like yours.
Seems the Pirellis on the C32 are very popular no doubt though.
That cannot be ignored.
Toyos T1-S are good tires and worth a look, I have then on a different car and I like them. Less cash and better wear than even the Pilots.
In any case, study the survey before you buy.
Good Luck!

Go with wider fronts and keep the rears the same...it will solve understeer
Otherwise, get new rims and widen everything.

You can put 245/40 on the front and clear the fender and strut. But then you are pushing the 7.5 rim well past its recommended max tire width limit. Note that 8.5 OEM rim can fit the front, BUT IT IS VERY CLOSE. The 8.5 OEM would be a better sized rim if you wanted to put all the rubber you could on the front.
But with Stk 7.5 front.......Suggested is max 235/45 on the 7.5, even going to 235/40 is not recommended on the 7.5.
On the rear you should also stay within the limitations of the rim width (not just the wheel-well width) So looks like 255 is OK for the stk 8.5. Ditto 265 would be pressing the envelope, for 8.5.
If you exceed the recommended range of the tire width to the wheel width cornering/handling will be adversely affected.
Note MKB has 245/40/18 in front, and and 265/35/18 in rear
So those sizes will certainly fit the wheel wells, but those are not on the stk AMG rims. The numbers show that car can handle better than the typical C32.
