Changed the plugs and wires...BIG difference!

i changed over to the denso iridium IK16 plugs with some magnecor 8.5mm wires and it is amazing that i can tell this much of a difference, didn't really think i would be able to...

car runs/idles much smoother...accelerates much easier than before(read less pedal input)....and seems to run better in the upper rpms...

if you guys have not done this, i would highly recommend this as a nice maintenance/upgrade over the stock setup...

Where did you pick them up? How much did they cost? Did you install them yourself - I've heard it's a major PITA. If you had them done, who did you have do it and what did they charge you?

Thanks!

me too..

i'm thinking of doing all these little things at the same time

IC Pump,
plugs and wires
heat spacer
SL55 boxes

and the ECU from Speentuning..

everything should run just a bit over $1k but well worth it.

How hard is to change the plugs and wires?

Good to know. I had my suppressors changed under warranty recently, at 23k mi or so. I didn't notice a difference. I'll upgrade when the time comes again.

plugs were $143.88 plus shipping

http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/main.htm

part number 65211 cost $200 plus shipping

i did the install myself, as i don't let anyone work on my cars, i am a perfectionist and very **** about everything...lol

it is not hard at all, just a little time consuming...

remove the air boxes, remove the coil packs, then remove the spark plugs...it is that simple...the coil packs are even labeled so you can't screw it up...there are also labels on the valve cover for where to put each wire...

if someone wants to host some pics, i can send via email to post up...

I did mine a year or so ago. The IK 16 is the plug to get. People with the IK 20 have not been happy with it. I literally dropped .2 seconds off of my 1/4 mile time and added 2-3 MPH with the plug/wire change. You are right, the big change seems to be in the high RPMs, where the car now seems to pull really hard right into the limiter (even the limiter raised with the Evo mods)

For those of you considering: I am a hardcore automotive DIYer, and this task, IMHO, is not as easy as 1Fast makes it sound. The plugs closest to the firewall are a major PITA, unless you are limber like a noodle and have a vast assortment of socket extensions. Even then, it is installation by feel, not by sight. Plan on at least a few hours for the whole job (the first time, at least). Plan on some knucklebusters. If you are over 30 and/or not very flexible, plan on a backache too. In any case, make sure you have a variety of socket extensions available.

Careful. I think you are looking at the IK20. By all accounts the 16 is the better plug for the C32.

i only found one site that was cheaper than ordering from magnecor direct, but when i inquired about it, that was the old pricing and they did not have them in stock...be careful where you order from, my plug wires arrived 3 days after i ordered them...

Im glad you posted the last part. Id consider doing it myself since I've done most of the work on my cars. But not sure if i want to spend a long time swearing and cursing at the car. I've got skinny fingers and hands, so maybe I could, but sounds like Im better off not doing it. Im only concerned if I pay someone to do it, how do I know they really got installed.

Is the IK16 still the correct plug for a stock car?

Is IK16 for a stock or modded car or both? I assumed you guys were taking about modded cars (pulley & ECU at least).

I just did a web order and it looks like they accepted it for now. I guess we'll see if I get an email saying that it is a different price. Did you try to order from them and then find out or did you call?

Modded, but I have to assume that it would help a stock car too.

hey, i was wondering if you have any pics of what he magnecor wires looked like??? do they look like stock ? i was just wondering cause i heard if they don't have the metal ends like the stock one's it's really hard pull out cause you can't use the spark plug wire tool to take them out.
