You know, that is a good thought. I usually reset mine right as I get to the track while I'm letting her cool off. Never thought about if it made any difference w/ or w/o reset between passes.

As I understand the reset, it takes about 40 accelerations (in S mode) from a complete stop, for the computer to adapt to your particular driving style. If you reset at the track, it will be capturing data from a VERY aggressive driving style and should not be negatively affecting your performance. Doing the reset after only a few complete stops is just a waste of time, in my opinion

Something doesn't make sense here
Okay, it is my understanding that the W203 has an adaptive automatic transmission. I don't have a lead food but I do pull ahead of most cars when I accelerate from a light. I would say I have an eager foot. If this is how I drive from the moment I have the car, why would the throttle response become sluggish over time if the inputs from my food tell it to do otherwise?

No matter how hard you feel you accelerate, the adatptions will always feel slower that the cleared memory in the computer.
The simplest thing to do is just clear the memory every week or two.

just want to give some feedback on my experiences with this little trick.
ill first start by saying that the ECU reset does work! the throttle response, shift points, and low end power all seem to be improved. the car just seems to always pick the best gear for optimal acceleration when coming out of a corner, and the 1-2 shift chirps! Amazing.
another thing i noticed, was my gas mileage went to hell, and not just because of the way i was driving. i reset the ECU and tried driving normally for an entire tank of gas and managed 15.4MPG, while my normal driving on the "unmodified" ECU was almost always between 18-19MPG. i assume this is because the transmission holds the lower gears longer, letting the engine rev out each gear longer, consuming more fuel.
any other theories as to why this is? with gas prices on the rise, i will use the ECU reset for weekend canyon runs and track days. However, the boost it does give is not worth a 3mpg penalty for normal street driving IMO. I'll have to try to this reset for freeway cruising and compare the ECU's to see if there really is something else going on behind the scenes.

Does it work on a 2004 E320?
Hi! I'm new to this group and I've been learning a lot about my E320. Forgive me if this has been already answered but does this reset work on a 2004 E320?
Thanks
Miguel
Thanks

Awesome!!!
Since I adopted the baby, it's been little over month and I thought the car was supposed to be something like this. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! No more sluggish start.
Thanks!!!

Get the codes read and you will see it might be something so simple as a loose gas cap.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
Help a noob out, cause I want this to work.. and I just don't feel it.
doors closed... turn key to where engine isn't running but all cluster is illuminated...
hold down throttle to the kick down for five seconds... turn key off... release throttle.. wait 3 minutes.
Am I missing something? Cause I read all the threads about this.. and I don't think I am.

Mine seems to work fine, the only thing I have read that is different is some say 15 seconds throttle down. Be sure to leave the key in (but turned all the way anti-clockwise or OFF) for the 2-3 minutes of wait, then pull the key and 'exit the vehicle' is another one floating around
& i do always hear the ecu 'thinking' things through after this reset during the 2-3 min wait
then it usually tells me to kill john lennon
