C55 AMG ownerz~ Need your opinions.

I'm in market for a new car and I really can't make up my mind btw M3 n C55.
I had bmws before so I know what M3 is capable of. What about C55? I test drove one and it def moves. Very powerful and comfty. However I do not know much about MB.. Do you guys had any small / major problems with your C55s? Are they reliable? Is there alot of aftermarket product available for this car ?
How much is to maintain this car by MB dealer? I found 05 C55 for low 40s and car had about 15,000 miles.. good deal?

Thanks

You need to really determine what your needs are. If you are looking for a thinly disguised race car, that has the ergonomics and ride to match, think M3. If you need to actually carry family or passangers on any kind of regular basis, and you want them to still like you when its over, think C55. If you search the threads here, you'll see that the performance numbers are so close between the two, you could flip a coin.

As for me, I prefer a really fast luxury car to the dressed up go-cart (and I mean that in a complimentary manner). As for the price, I think you can determine if its a good deal. Do your research and spend what you feel is fair. That will always be the best deal. Good luck.

Also...

How do you feel about the looks of the current M3? I believe this is the last year for the old body style...with the new coupe body style powered bya 400hp NA V8. So keep that in mind, unless of course you hate the new 3 series looks.

2005 C55
Thumbs up

I came out of an E46 M3 before I got my C55 - I loved the M3, and I love the C55. Like everyone said, you need to figure out what your needs are... 4 door vs 2 door, tracking versus highway etc I really don't think you can go wrong either way, I like both interiors, I prefer MB's nav to BMW's, I also love the MB's low end torque and the cache of a V8. Good luck with your decision, either way you can't go wrong!

in terms of reliability my 05 C55 has around 11,000 miles and has no problems. if ur single or married w/o kids and don't mind rough ride then get the M3, but if u want comfy ride and more luxury or have kid(s) then definately the C55.

Choosing between an M3 and a C55 can be a tough decision. I had the same choice to make last year. I loved the M3 and had my mind set on buying the M3 Competition Sport. That all changed after test driving the C55.

I think the C55 interior and seats are better than the M3. Also, the torque and exhaust note from the V8 is addicting. The AMG engine bay is sweet too. The M3 is sportier with a more aggressive body style. More aftermarket parts are available for the M3 as compared to the C55. Another advantage is the option of a manual tranny.

You're basically choosing between either a luxury sport (C55) vehicle or a sport luxury (M3) vehicle.

As far as reliabilty goes, my C55 has caused me no worries. Please post pictures of the C55 if you decide to buy it.

My C55 W203 bought brand new in 2004 August. Done 30000km, C55 never went down and it surely has few fixable known issues just like any other cars which I would not worry a bit of reliability of C55. I am planning to keep the car for another 2 years and will replace it with C63 W204 in 2008/9.

I have absolute confidence with Mercedes Benz cars., my recently bought E90 is for a nice refreshing change, ultimate power machines have got to be AMG.

There is no replacement for displacement.
V8 all the way!
