Welcome forum member maste3w0ng to the AMG Family!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to introduce a member here to all you C32 and C55 owners. His name is Jon Wong and he stepped up from a yellow 1987 300E to a brand new C55 in Alabaster White. He's only 17 and purchased it himself yesterday! Props to him. So welcome him to the family everyone! He's gonna be missed in the W124 section.

17 and C55 with his own money? Hollywood actor comes to mind.

But damn, he needs to give me some advice. And congrats to him!

That must be a joyous feeling. I wish I had that kind of financial ability when I was 17. Congrats.

I don't know why he hasn't responded yet. I posted the thread for him and told him it was up.

He told me after I posted the topic that his parents gave him $40,000 for the c55 and he paid for the rest. Hmm....

Geez, his parents just GAVE him $40K? Let it be known that I am officially available for adoption by Mr. & Mrs. Wong. I am sure that they are in need of a middle-aged slightly graying older brother for their son.

By the way, Mr./Mrs. Wong, I am only driving a C32. If there is any way possible, I'd love to be driving the same model car as my new younger bro....

Just being a 17 y/o and driving a nice car isn't the problem.. I see a couple of M5, SL55, CLK55 in a student parking lot at some private school and it doesn't surprise me.
What intrigues most people here is the claim that being 17 years old, he bought the C55 with his own money.

In my book, it doesn't really matter how he got it. Congrats and welcome to the club! We're all here to discuss the ins/outs of our Mercs.

JW: Please treat your C55 like a child and do nice things for it once in a while. That's all we ask!

Take Care.

When I was 17 I had a 1966 VW squareback which I put a lot of work into.. hey at least is was German..

Off topic thoughts.. At 17 the responsibility of a 60k car seems unrealistic unless your parents are loaded and paying.. The insurance, car payments, gas etc would be much better spent on college, savings etc.. but that is just my opinion.. especially since I never had anyone to pay for these things for me..

Now that I am in my mid 30's I have a fully loaded college fund for my daughter, but I still wouldn't let her have a 60k car. I was thinking C230.. which seems much more practical.. (and slower )

Good luck..

Putting Character and values aside, the cost of a teen aged driver in a high performance vehicle like a C55 is...well, costly. My oldest is getting ready to drive. He will be in a 1989 Ford Bronco for several reason. 1- He can't go as fast as he could in a C55. 2-Old cars are insurable at rates less than 1/2 that of newer cars (and it aint cheap at that). 3-OK, Character does count. How can he understand the value of a buck if he is given and driving something most adults can't afford and would give a left testi for.

Sorry. I am ranting.

very unlikely for ANY seventeen year old to be able to obtain 15-25K on his own at that age. lol

I'm 19 turning 20 and I'm barely going to be jumping into a C32 soon with my hard earn money. Once I find the right one.

Jumping from a 1987 300E to a 2006 C55 is a huge improvement. Your friend is very fortunate to own a C55 AMG at the age of 17. The insurance fees will probably put a big dent in his (parent's) pocket book.

Based on the previous posts, its seems that he put 15-25k of his own money into the car. It's hard to believe, but if it's true... than props go out to Jon Wong. Please ask him to pm me with his investment secrets.

By the way... is Jon one of those kids from MTV's "My Sweet Sixteen" show? I'm just joking...

Anyways, congrats on the car, drive safe, and please take care of the C55. Also post pics if possible.

Supposely he's making good money working for this compnay called Usana... he states that they're the #1 health company ever. Also... he stated to me last night that the shampoo and conditioner I use for my hair might cause me cancer and that I should switch over to Usana products. lol

I still don't know why he hasn't posted anything yet... I'm starting to get suspicious.
