C55 lightings upgrade (MUST BE PAINLESS)

Recently, I upgraded my E90 lightings, taken a pro an hr job of $60. Painless and plug and play. Here is my e90 lightings upgrade:

1. HID upgraded to Osram 6000K D1S. us$270 incl. shipment
2. PIAA Ring Marker 6500K us$180 bought locally. (BMW exclusive)
3. PIAA H11 4700K for fogs. $65 bought locally

Now I wanna do the similar upgrade to my C55 for HID, Small Lamps and Fog, . Can I beg someone show me a link that would tell what models of bulbs to order? I just need something quality i.e. safe, plug and play , easy to install and reliable which someone here has tried them. Money is less an issue.

I also want to replace all interior lightings to blue LEDs, please provide a link that someone has done it.

many tks

The city lights are 194 / W5W, Fogs are 9006, and high beams are H7. You can also do the CarLab HID fog light kit if you want. The BiXenon headlights should be D2S.

We have a HID foglights conversion that will match your stock 4300K Headlights. or you can also upgrade the stock HID low beam ones to 6K / 8K and we have a matching forlights to go with it as well.

Price for the bulb is $125 and HID Conversion is $280. Shipping is free.

The kit is plug and play and requires no visit to the dealers.

Pm me if you would like to get one.

As for the interior lighting, you can visit - http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...lacementGuide/ to find the specific bulb on your car. and most of the time you can find those platoon LED bulb on www.ebay.com

Hope that help.

Thanks Darwin.

Just clarify,

Option 1 - Keep the main beam HID (4300K ?) and replace the more yellow small beam and fog beam to match the HID 4300K. This will need to buy two sets of bulbs.

Option 2 - Upgrade the main beam HID from 4300K to 6000K+ and replace the small beam and gof beam to match the 6000K HID main beam. This will need to buy 3 sets of bulbs.

think I understand but not completelyt your mentioned 'HID conversion of the fog'.

CNT,

Yes thats right,

By small beam you mean City lights, the one sits below the high beam. We don't sell the small beam at this time. We only have the HID Fogs to match the main beam 4300K.

HID conversion means it replaced the halogen capsule to xenon charged lights. It comes with ballast, starter and wiring harness.

You might have have a DIY link to see how Fog HID conversion is done.
I am thinking to replace the main beam lamp to 6000K/8000K.
I think it is D2S right?
If that happens, I will need to see the fog lamps to match the D2S.
Now I also need to find out what bulbs to use for the Small lamps.
Just took a photo of my car and I just dont recall what those MB lamps are called as my whole brain have been stuffed with E90 lightings terminologies in the past month.

Use 6000K HIDs in the 'main beam' and fog lights. Also, those are your turn signals, not your high beams.

Your 'small beams' are your city lights. Switch over to PIAA Tera LEDs. I just did the swap, and they match my 6000K HIDs well

I'm putting in 6000K HIDs from Carlab tomorrow, just as long as USPS gets here in time

the lo beam is d2s
fog is 9006
hi beam is h7
city light is 194

you can match the lo beams and fogs with a d2s bulb and 9006 hid kit.

the best you can do for the hi beam is a nokya artic white bulb. silverstars suck.

the city lights, you can buy PIAA tera leds. they come with the resistors and directions to hook up. the highest they have is 5500K.

They have 6500K too. I got the 5500K and they match my Philips 6000K bulbs very well. I thought that the 6500K LEDs would look too rice

The answer has been posted above by Rlee02135 ( Thank You BTW ). We don't carry the small city lights because our price is not gonna be that much cheaper than buying it through ebay .

Here's my setup with the Carlab HID fogs, etc.

US spec bixenon with oem 4300K lamps.

4300K HID foglights in clear housing (from Carlab )

LED city lights (bought from a store in Shum Shui Po)

LED puddle lights (they look white in person, but they are probably not 4300K because of the bluish hue)

Oh sht , this thread came to live and your guys talked like a symphony!
Thank you for clarifying all the terminologies I need to know about my lights Look like I have absolutely no excuse to backout from my C55 lights mods, despite I wasn't even finish my first course of "Xenon&LEDs for Dummies"! You guys will be turning this here already rare monster to be a supermonster! Okay, I shalll continue with the research and shoppings then. ( I was lucky enough to get to know this race car mechanic who did my E90 lightings in an hour, and hopefully he will be standby for my C55 )

One rather odd issue about the E90 fog lamps. This mechanic told me , the PIAA H11 4700K I have used for the fogs, have records of overheat, which will melt the bulb base and subsequently, the melted base will drop out and screw the fog wirings. As he said this is due to more heat is generated from the 4700K bulb and the E90 fog lamps design (plastic) is just no good for the H11. So he has suggested that I turn off the fog in a Summer time traffic jam situation.

Now, not sure Xenon conversion for the E90 does or does not improve my situation with the E90. A stupid question, does a 6000KXenon generate more heat than a H11 4700K?

One last question is , just to make sure the D2S is plug and play like the D1S on my E90; and I don't know much about the LED for the C55 City Light , is that also plug and play?

many thanks
t

The Xenon runs at 35W, whereas the halogen PIAA H11 4700K runs at 55W, so in theory there should be less heat according to simple calculations.

The D2S is also plug and play like the D1S. However, the LED City Lights are not. You need to hook up a resistor as well to keep the wattage the same or else your MFD will show 2 bulb out messages. I'm not too technically inclined so I didn't do the LED City Lights. Instead, I bought these:

and they look like this:

1. Is the photo showing your E55 with D2S already?
2. 168 WEDGE BULB XTREME WHITE 5W, TWIN PACK looks good to me. If I keep the stock HID, will the color be even more closer?
3. have you also changed the fog?
cheers

No problem. Here're the answers to your questions:

1. I still have the stock 4300K D2S bulb.
2. I'm running stock xenons and the city lights match up pretty good.
3. I'm running PIAA Extreme White Plus 9006 Foglight Bulbs right now, but will be upgrading to HID fogs that I got from Carlab in a week or two.

I think the picture showed in the website is a mis-print. The ones that I'm running is 19172, not 19168. However, there were some older posts with users commenting that 19172 is too bluish for them and they liked the 19168 better.

Next upgrades are headers, custom 2.5" exhaust piping, quad CF exhaust tips, speedhut boost gauge in a-pillar, brabus rear brakes, quaife lsd, kmac front camber kit, and a larger crankshaft pulley. Haha, the modding never ends.

Try searching for "HID fog install." Or you could just follow the instructions on this website for fog light bulb replacement. Basically, it's as easy as changing the fog light bulb. Only difference is you install the ballast and wiring, zip tie everything together and plug in the bulbs (per instructions from Carlab HID kit). Should only take 30 minutes to do both sides.

One thing that I forgot to say about the turn signal bulbs. Get a pair of Philips Silvervision, Sylvania Silverstar, or StealthAuto turn signal bulbs to get rid of the yellowish color from your headlights too

Careful, I just installed a 9006 hid fog light kit from Carlab, and the harnesses were built wrong. The polarity was backwards. I had to cut them, swap, and resolder, so it was *not* a plug and play installation.
