I got one at 92 on a 65. It's $280 and 5 points. I am going to court hopefully they would reduce my points. Also, might be getting a lawyer. There are just too many cops were I am in different unmarked cars, Minivans, etc. I would worry about the points more than the cost of the ticket.

i have 3 just this year...

1 ticket is gone since I took school

the other 2... I'm going to end up paying for it through my insurance.

All three were over $200...

My next car will have a radar and laser detector and blocker... for sure.

try to stall off the violation as long as possible. plead not guilty then postpone hearing as many times as possible. ie try to get as much time as possible between date of offence and date your insurance co picks up on it.

also- insurance cos don't always check your license at each policy anniversary. so you may get by for a yr.

lastly-insurance cos go back varying amounts of time when considering your driving record. some 3 yrs some 5-6 yrs. may be worth you while to switch companies if when the surcharge hits. sometimes you could end up only paying for a yr+ best case.

hope this helps.

Ah! awesome! I'll do that next time, just in case.

Does anyone know how long it will take for the points to be off the driving record? I assume 3 years?

What speed did they write you down for? If it was 90mph I don't think you can go to traffic school.

I got one at 87 on a 35 last February PLUS no front license plate PLUS refuse to give my current address!? 3 on one. The cop was nice to me... all he said was: "see ya at court!". I got a lawyer for $85... never saw his face until the day of the hearing. I got a call a week before my court date... So I'm there at 8 AM... After 7 wasted hours of my time sitting and waiting to hear my name I finally got called and a random guy (I assumed this was my lawyer) goes: dismiss, dismiss, and how about paying $85 for the front plate and the court fees... I said: ok! Everything was just over $200 and no record of it. If I wouldn't gone through the trouble it was going to cost me around $700 plus a higher on with my insurance. My recommendation: get a lawyer and good luck!

he wrote down 90 in the approx. box. there was no radar. Between you and i, i was going anywhere between 85 and 95, on our guages there is not much room between those middle speeds. Why wouldn't i be able to do traffic school, is it because im 25 mph and over? Thank you all for your input.

You won't be able to got to traffic school in CA for that ticket by default. If you get a lawyer, you'll probably be able to go to traffic school if you dont beat the ticket

Traffic school is only if you are under 10 mph over the speed limit... at least here in TX.

In that range of speed over the limit (25-30 mph) the chances of them allowing you to take traffic school is rather iffy. A lot of times officers will write you up for 80+ instead of the actual speed to allow you to take traffic school.

You can try to request it before your court date and if they do let you, go for it. If not, it'll be at the judge's discretion on whether they will allow you to. If you decide to fight the ticket and testify you can kiss your chance for traffic school goodbye. Traffic school is always at the discretion of the court and considered a privilege not a right. Good luck.

I got a speeding ticket(code: 22349VC) a few months back on the 405 near Costa Mesa, and I was going 95mph in a 65 zone. I went to court and hoped the officer wouldn't show up, but he showed up 15 mins after the session has begun. Anyways, the judge wouldn't allow me to take traffic school, however she reduced the fine from $367.5 to $178.5.

120 in the slow lane, weaving in heavy traffic - in a 91 toyota celica

1 month suspended liscense, $1480 in fines, tons of points on my record for four years. my insurance costs $580 a month because of that ticket. cheers.

It depends on what the officer put on the ticket. If is was just a speeding violation then you are OK to 100 in CA. If he put reckless driving then you'll have to see a judge to explain.

I know people drive fast on 5 but I heard you are taking a risk at anything over 80 of getting stopped.

Driving in Germany was a real treat this summer. No worries about cops on the Autobahn and people drive way better there.

steve are you certain (I hope so), i saw that too on the dmv website and it was one point. It was a 22349(a) vc, but i don't know what the extra gargon means. I saw that 100 and over is 2 points. I figure the 2 point one = traffic school. My record is clean eitherway.

erm excuse me * raises hand*

I was clocked at 148mph, and i was still accelerating hard

-Reckless driving- I got away without paying 2800 dollars in fines
- got the charge of eluding an officer dropped
-Had to perform 50 hours of comm service. ( did only a 'few' thanks to a friend)
- Probation for 3 years.

p.s. nothing i'm proud of

Yep, I got a 95 in a 65 and just choose traffic school. As long as it is just a speed violation you are OK, no need to go to court.
