Exclamation NEW Mercedes WHITE STAR Flat Badge for C32 - C55 AMG Sedans

Guys, if you are looking for a Metal Flat Badge that sits within the divot on the hood left by the OEM star, you might look into this thread...

on the C-Class forum... https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/143911-new-mercedes-benz-white-star-flat-hood-badge-c-class-w203.html

or on the E-Class forum... https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...89#post1551889

Look for posts by DFWdude, the guy who makes these limited production stars.

I have one of these on my C320 and it looks great. It's made from the OEM standard star, so it has the same twist attachment, making it easy to switch from Upright to Flat on the fly... it takes only seconds.

I see that a couple guys with C32s have bought these badges, so I thought I'd start a thread in this forum so those owners can post their pictures here.

You want a group buy for a limited production, hand-made item? There are less than 30 of these on the planet. With a couple million MB sedans rolling in the US, He could make a couple hundred of these and they would still be an exclusive, collector's item.

I know this guy. He's working as hard as he can to keep up with those who want one... on his terms. So, I wouldn't expect a group buy offer anytime soon.

I must have missed something. Did this place turn into a Toyota forum while I was asleep?

I second that. Mine is #24. I cannot stop starring and admiring it. It is definitely worth the money I paid for it. Excellent quality.

I got mine almost 4 months ago now, one of the two pre-production badges. I agree, I walk past the front of the car and I am drawn to it like a magnet. It's nice to have something even more unique than a full set of custom wheels and tires, LOL!

Any pics of it on the car a bit further away? I like the idea, but why doesn't the star look anything like the real MB logo star? it looks fat.

It's a Legacy star from years past. The Tristar has not always been today's chrome design. The current star on the G-Class is even "fatter."

See this post for a chronology of tristar designs through the years. See the third from the Right... https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....2&postcount=11

and this post for pics on an E-class... https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....89&postcount=1

It's all about what you like.

Here are a few photos of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various MBs, borrowed from members who have shared...

As noted, the white Tristar is a legitimate "legacy" logo from the past. I like it because it adds some contrast to an otherwise chrome look. By the way, even today's G-Class logo is also a broad star in white.

I like the badge but like the traditional one better. One point of the star facing skyward and the other two towards the ground for land and sea.....just my .02 cents.

Did you pull that out of some dusty Mercedes-Benz book somewhere? Sounds a bit too philosophical for a car logo.

But hey, how bout them Dodgers? Ooops, back on topic.

Nope. That is what the three points stand for in the logo so if you didn't know it, you do now. If ya wanted a BMW style logo maybe you should have purchased an M3?

Personal preference bra and I would rather spend a couple hundred bucks on something else than a fricking logo for my ride.

Well, my e-mail account is getting alot of hits from folks who want a BMW style logo, or should I say a better BMW style logo... The SLK Badge has been around for years, so the flat badge concept is not new, and provides variety for those who want it.

Back on topic, there has been discussion comparing my WHITE STAR Flat Badge with the plastic SLK badge. My customers tell me the WHITE STAR Flat Badge shines more in the light.

So, I decided to test this by photographing both badges, shot in sunlight, to compare how both badges pick up the light, side-by-side. Obvously, the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is on the left, while the SLK badge is on the right. Both badges are brand new.

The facets within the WHITE STAR field do seem to catch the light more (by design), accentuating the white star and the contrast within the Laurel Wreath ring of the badge in general.

Your White Star outshines the SLK badge by far. On my car, it seems to pick up some of the tint from the Desert Silver color as well... See last photo in post #13, above.

A member came by my home over the weekend and we installed a WHITE STAR Flat Badge on his CLK55 AMG. Here are some pictures...

Folks continue to e-mail me, asking how difficult it is to remove the upright star and install the WHITE STAR Flat Badge. So, I've compiled a sequence of photos, below.

In most cases, one can untwist the upright star with the thumb and forefinger. But in cases where the star has been on the car for years, a gentle nudge with a pair of pliers is all that is needed. Once loose, you can swap between upright and WHITE STAR Flat Badge in seconds...

Why does the star look disporportionate compared to the normal mercedes star? I love the concept hate the fat star though.

The thinner, silver star is a recent iteration. If you study your MB history, you'll realize the "fat" star ruled for decades. To each his own.

For those of you who appreciate tradition, I have WHITE STAR Flat Badges available.

I appreciate tradition, I was just questioning the difference.

I prefer the traditional "fat" MB STAR over the new iteration.

As a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast, I love the history and real artwork of the original Gottlieb Daimler & Karl Benz starry inspirations !

DFWDude's white star flat badge gives your "new" Mercedes-Benz that touch of classy style & old tradition, which the two original marques made famous !
