Day time running light as Bi-Xenon's Question?

Hey guys I have see a lot of people that are thinking about turning off there day time running lights, most of them for the reason being that they don’t want to blow out the Bi-Xenon bulb because its an expensive one to replace, so I was wondering if this is possible? Can you turn off the Bi-Xenon as a day time running light and turn on the extra light in the hi-beam unit, not the hi-beam light it self but the small little bulb under that light as a day time running light? As shown in the picture blow. We are currently using #1 as a day time running light is it possible to make the #3 or #2 as are daytime running lights ? this would be like best of both worlds and the cops wont bugg u for not having daytime running lights on.

Turn off Daytime running lights in programming mode.
Switch the light switch knob to parking light mode.

As for a more automated solution, not sure you can implement.

I drive with my headlights on 24/7...my C250D with xenon headlights has done 640.000km and I have replaced 2 or 3 xenon bulbs sofar...which oretty much means that a xenon bulb easily lasts 200.000km...do you think you will ever drive THAT much with your car?

greetingz,

greetingz,
Not really... But this problem is not with the light bulb...but my Bi-Xenon light don't work that good with 96000km, sometimes its woking, most time is not...

I run my daytime lights all the time and I just had my stock xenon bulbs replaced today (16000 miles). They started flickering a few thousand miles after I got the car(brand new) but quickly stopped. It started up again a couple months ago and I finally got fed up with it since I've been driving at night more. The left and right side have been flickering at different times and will occasionally shut completely off for 1 or 2 seconds. The dealership (caliber motors, Anaheim hills) only replaced the bulbs, not the ignitors or ballasts. there have been several helpful posts about different xenon problems. Wish me luck on not returning to the dealer for the same problem.

so dealer replaced just the bulbs (like I said in previous post) and the problem is back. The passenger xenon light flickers again. It has gradually gotten worse. At first, I didn't bother because I figured dealer wouldn't be able to reproduce the flickering, but yesterday I drove to LA and back + a couple local side trips (about 100 miles total) and it was driving me insane. I got a service B coming up in about a month so I will definitely ***** at them for this. I better get the ignitor this time.

Too many to list
I heard it's the law to have your daytime running lights on 24/7 in Canada.
Though HID bulbs are supposed to last the life of the car, it doesn't mean it'll continue to produce the same amount of light all the way to its eventual death. The more time it's used, the life of the bulb decreases and so does its light output. Have you ever seen those purple headlights from those Acura TLs? It's because the headlights are always on. But who cares, right? New OE replacements bulbs are roughly $60/pair on ebay.
